Configure Question

Hello

 

Been using MB for a while mostly for movies and TV shows but now I'm trying to add my music collection after finaly cleaning it up.

 

The problem I'm having is I have a few recordings from both CD rip and a copy recorded from a LP. I'd like to keep both of them but keep them sepperated at the album level.

 

Any idea's what would be the best way to do this.

 

Right now music is sepperated into two folders like this

 

LP / [Artist] / [Album] / [media][diskno] - Track[trackno] - [title].mp3

 

CD / [Artist] / [Album] / [media][diskno] - Track[trackno] - [title].mp3

 

I can use coverart to define a difference between the two folders but the artist show up twice for every album on both formats

I'm not 100% sure but I think the only way u can have both show up as separate albums would be if u used something like mp3tag and changed one of the album names to something like "Album Name LP". I think as long as the album names match up it will assume its the same album so adding LP to the album name would make MB assume its a different one.

 

As for the artist showing up twice, are you sure the name is spelt identical in both the CD and LP album? If both are spelt the same its most likely because u have the 2 separate locations. I keep all albums, whether album, LP, EP, etc. under the 1 media location and artist name and it works fine for me

I tried your idea I added a [CD] or [LP] to the end of the album folder name and it solved the artist showing up twice porblem. But created a new one as far as I can tell there is no way to get coverart to give the two media types different covers

Do you mean the coverart plugin?

 

if so if you go to the plugin on MB server and configure the plugin you can add specific covers to items. I havent tried it and not at home at the moment, but i think this is the best way to do it.

If you physically separate the two versions, you could create separate profiles in CA with different treatment styles.  However, there isn't anything that is going to look like vinyl.

I already made a feature request for a vinyl treatment in the coverart plugin. Not sure if it will get anywhere but I tried.

I'm sure the folder names are the same using jaikoz for the renaming functions. Still working on organizing my music collection.

           Artist

      CD w/ "ignor.txt"

           Artist

                 Album

                       track name.mp3

 

Last time I had two media locations maybe using just on and pointing coverart at the LP and CD folder will work

Hello

The idea of adding  a ignor didn't work at all

Tried a few different idea's none of them worked 100% here is what I found so far

if I point the media library at root folder somthing like.

 

Music/[Media Type LP or CD]/Artist/Album/songfilename.mp3

What happens is I get a LP or CD folder when going into music from MB classic interface.

 

If I add two sepperate folders to the media libary

CD/Artist/Album/songfilename.mp3

LP/Artist/Album/songfilename.mp3

Then in mb classic under music any artist that has a CD and LP in my collection shows up twice

But in the server web page sorted by artist it shows up right one artist with both all LP and CD below.

 

If I Add music under one folder and add a LP or CD at end of the Album folder name

Music/Artist/Album[CD]/songfilename.mp3

everything works but there is no easy way to have coverart use a different treatment for

the LP to make browsing easyer

No one has any idea's

 

Since every thing shows up correctly in the server's web page could this be a bug/flaw?

 

Also will or can sort fields be added for music in the classic client.

Like sort by Artist, Album Artist, Album, ect
