kianrafiee 3 Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 So Plex Pass for $5 a month includes EPG guide data from Gracenote. I wanted to know why Emby doesn't include there own guide data as part of the $5 a month Emby Premiere subscription to match Plex? This is the only thing keeping me from using Emby and leaving Plex once and for all. I am willing to pay $5 a month but no more. Yes I know schedules direct comes out to like $2.50 a month but thats $2.5 more than Plex and burns into my TV budget. Can you guys please consider this?
arrbee99 1817 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Sounds like a nice idea, but am wondering where it would come from. Would Gracenote supply info to Emby and Plex ? - maybe. Schedules Direct, No idea. Do either of them have guide data for New Zealand, where I live - SD definitely doesn't. Its not a lot of money but should I contribute for everyone (in the US) to have access to, say SD, when I can't access it (and don't need it( when I can make use of the OTA tv guide anyway.

You said it yourself, it's not a lot of money. What if there was a feature I got for free so I didn't need Emby to provide it, but you wanted it because you can't get it for free.
Senna 368 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I really wish you guys would provide guide data baked into the $5 a month premiere price like Plex does. That's a great idea, so I finally can get rid of the cropped and wrongly displayed program thumbs on my Apple TV from my current guide provider (that Emby can't handle right), if Emby is in control of the guide data delivered

It would simply mean we are paying for it.
Senna 368 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 (edited) Well, if you could close a deal with Gracenote, then I guess a custom solution is possible through their API And me and others are happy to pay for such a service, if that option is present as an extra option in the premiere subscription. Edit: To add to that, seems that DVBLogic is also partly using Gracenote with their excellent service, because Season and Episode numbers are always right, for my automatic recording schedules in DVBLink. That's exactly what we have now. You pay extra for guide data (or obtain your own). We would like to get to where we can provide this data as a part of Premiere. 1
Senna 368 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 ? That's exactly what we have now. I completely missed that than, in my Premiere subscription Could you guide me to an Emby page, where I can set that up ?
ebr 16187 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I completely missed that than, in my Premiere subscription Could you guide me to an Emby page, where I can set that up ? It is currently done via Schedules Direct. The comment in here about providing data with Premiere was directed at cost - not source.
Senna 368 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Well your previous answer was confusing, letting me think you already provided guide data included with the premier subscription. I already knew at forehand, that schedules direct was a separate subscription managed by the user and not by Emby, so its clear to me now.
rholborok 4 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 You could just run it yourself.. I used webgrab plus and run it nightly. It took me a few hours to setup. I pull from zap2it.

Fratopolis 63 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Schedules direct only costs $2.08 a month not $2.50
Fratopolis 63 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I'd be willing to pay $8 month total for emby to include it so I don't deal with it or $125 Major version lifetime.
