shocker 135 Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Hello, I've been testing emby with a Roku Streaming Stick+ and sending messages from the server is not possible. Basically the message is not shown. Is this a known issue? Also forcing direct-stream from the server, some subtitles are starting with 1-2s delay. Thanks!
ebr 16177 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Hello, I've been testing emby with a Roku Streaming Stick+ and sending messages from the server is not possible. Hi, what, exactly do you mean by "Not possible"? Is the option not available or nothing happens when you do it or what?

ebr 16177 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Hi. I just tested this and it worked fine. Where are you in the app? Is the user remote or local?
shocker 135 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) During a movie play. It's the server admin user (local with emby connect). I will test in the library in a few min Edited January 29, 2018 by shocker
Luke 42078 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 The method of sending messages we're using can be fragile and prone to the roku closing the connection. We will need to supplement this with cloud based push notifications in order to ensure it will work all of the time.

Jdiesel 1431 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Also I don't believe it works on out of network Rokus. Possibly if the correct ports are forwarded on the Roku's network.
Luke 42078 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Right, I think for now it just won't work in all situations. Push notifications are going to be the only way to make it just work all of the time, well assuming an internet connection at least.
Nisten 15 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) Tried this on a Roku 2 (in network) while using the Message Icon on the Emby Dashboard in the Android App but nothing actually displayed on-screen for the roku Edited February 5, 2018 by Nisten
