Diedrich 377 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 I can't get "Sort Title" within a collection to be respected. If I set a few movies as 01, 02, 03, etc... there are no changes, the movies are still being shown in order by Year. Am I missing something? Is this not built in?
Solution Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 26, 2018 Solution Posted January 26, 2018 Sort Title is only honored in Collections if you change "Display Settings" from Release Date to Sort Title. Select Edit Info on a Collection and find Display Settings., 2

bjhille 3 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I'm not sure if this is expected behavior or not... I have a Collection called "Aliens". Within this collection, I have the following movie titles: Title: Alien Sort Title: Alien 1 filename: Alien (1979).m4v Title: Aliens Sort Title: Alien 2 filename: Aliens (1986).m4v Title: Alien3 Sort Title: Alien 3 filename: Alien3 (1992).m4v Title: Alien Resurrection Sort Title: Alien 4 filename: Alien - Resurrection (1997).m4v Title: Promethus Sort Title: Alien 5 filename: Alien - Prometheus (2012).m4v Title: Alien Covenant Sort Title: Alien 6 filename: Alien - Covenant (2017).m4v When I first added all the movies to the collection, the sort by was "name" and they would appear was: Alien Aliens Alien3 Alien Resurrection Promethus Alien Covenant I then deleted Alien to test how that worked and had to re-add and rebuild the nfo files, etc. When I added the movie back (unknown to me the release date was wrong indicating a 2008 date), the order was: Aliens Alien3 Alien Resurrection Alien Promethus Alien Covenant I updated the Sort By to be Release date and had no change to the display order. That's when I found the incorrect Release date. I updated, but the order remained. I then changed the Sort By to be Name, and I got: Alien Aliens Alien3 Alien Resurrection Promethus Alien Covenant My first question is, when you select a sort by "Name", what does that mean? Is that by Title, filename, Sort Title, Original Title? My next question, does this sound right in terms of expected behavior? I don't feel like it's using the Sort Title like I would have expected as that incorrect Release Date shouldn't have mattered. Thanks. Brian
ebr 16190 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 When you sort by "Name" Sort Title is what matters - unless there is no sort title in which case it would just be the title. In the case of collections, however, there are some specialized sorting options and we default to release date (because this is how people usually want to see members of collections).
