Stop Live TV thumbnail collection

I record a few programs overnight.  Every morning I have 50 or more new live-tv thumbs and .nfo files.  Can I turn this feature off or adjust the frequency they are collected?

I'd have to see the server log from an example, but if those files all belong to one recording then that would suggest recording failures.

Here are the last two.  It has now been recording and storing since 10pm last night, every 10 minutes.  Some of that time was programmed to be recorded, but not all.

The log mentions this file:

W:\!New TV\livetv-10424.ts

Does that file exist?

It may have at the time, as one of the many files it is creating, but doesn't exist anymore( as I'm deleting them all daily)...yet the problem persists. I did find something in last night's report I am pursuing. Will report back.

It didn't like something in my DNLA settings. Seems fixed.

That's completely unrelated. More likely you may have had recording failures due to loss of signal, and that's why it kept retrying and you ended up with mulitple files.

Hmmm....Wouldn't that have shown up in the log?

 

I mention the DNLA settings reluctantly as I know it shouldn't have any effect (as you say) BUT directly after unticking everything in the settings module, my problems stopped.

 

If it's a loss of signal issue, I suspect it will return.

It would have yes, and i didn't see that in the log you provided, possibly because it was from after all of those files were created. So at this point given that all of this happened in the past, it's hard to say what happened. If we can catch it again then that should help us figure it out. Thanks.

Emby is recording live TV all night long.

I know nothing of live tv, but maybe it shouldn't be recorded into a directory that is monitored? Maybe someone that uses live-tv can chime in.

Note the deleting of the temp files and then Emby knowing it needs to trigger a refresh on the full file after it has been move/merged/whatever? This is what makes me hazard this guess.

Nice work...but would this issue, if it is the problem, come before or after Emby being called to record AT ALL?  Beyond any programs scheduled to be recorded, there should be no live tv at all?

Exactly what did you setup to record because there is no way for you to set something with a start and stop time.  You can only record programs or series.  So its sounds like maybe the issue will tie back to the guide data (like you setup a recording for an on-demand IPTV channel or something like that).
