Guest Sabiel Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 I'm currently running Emby Server 3.2.70.0, and it's my understanding that subtitle files are now saved with the metadata if this is not set to be saved in the media folders. That's good when adding new media, but what I'm wondering is if there is any means of moving existing subtitle files out of the media folders? A similar situation occurs when adding new media that already has subtitle files; I can only place them with the media as previously.
Luke 42083 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Hi, when you change the setting there is no migration back and forth, sorry. It only applies to new titles going forward. I suppose you could use your file browser to delete all subtitle files recursively under the metadata folder and then run a library scan after.
Guest Sabiel Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Thanks for the reply. My own preference is that I like that subtitle files can now be saved with the other metadata. Yes, I had thought about deleting the subtitle files now in the wrong location. The problem with that is the number that would then need to be re-downloaded; as I've found out previously Open Subtitle has a daily download limit and I believe they warn that doing so repeatedly leads to an account ban. I appreciate that this is mostly wanting consistency and a desire to have tidy folders, but is there any possibility this could be added in a future update? When the scan for missing subtitles is run it must be checking both the media and metadata folders regardless of location setting. Couldn't it then move the subtitle file if it is found, but in the wrong folder?
