Ghostm 74 Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Seem to be getting a new error when waking my pc. Was good for a few days but now a new error has started appearing similar to the old one whenever i wake my htpc after its been put to sleep. Here is the paste bin http://pastebin.com/F5QfRU74 The error itself reads "unhandled exception. Cannot set Visibility or call show, ShowDialog, or WindowInterophelper.EnsureHandle after a window has closed." 1
Ghostm 74 Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Good news and bad news, this error is gone, but now at times when i wake from sleep i get a screen that just has the words media browser scrolling across it. And i cant get rid of it, its stuck on it. I have to ctrl alt delete and close it down.
nickbuol 31 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I've had similar issues when waking my HTPC from sleep with MBT running. The error sounds similar, but I am at work and can't check for sure. I have been manually shutting down, which is inconvenient when trying to not break out a keyboard but run everything from my Harmony remote.
Ghostm 74 Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Tonight i got the first error again waking from sleep.... IT was very good for a few days when the old error was fixed and then this new error cropped up.
Ghostm 74 Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 Just to add a bit more info on this, if I let my pc sleep just for a minute to reproduce this error and then wake it, it does not occur. It seems to occur when its been put into sleep for a bit (an hour or so if not more).
Danee 57 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) I have not looked at it lately because I still use Media Center and launch MBT from there and close it while I'm done, but I do beleive it has to do with the screensaver in MBT. Just measure the time it takes before that kicks in and then let your system sleep for a little longer and a little shorter and then compare the results. Ghostm 74 Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks for the info the screen saver makes complete sense.e
Ghostm 74 Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) One other error im noticing with mbt sleep, when i use mbt gui to enter sleep, i cant wake my pc up with a keyboard or mouse. Its weird my pc will wake and my tv will show no signal, then the pc will go immediately back to sleep. I am using a usb wireless keyboard and mouse. It worked fine when i used my keyboard mouse in xbmc to wake it from sleep back in the day. I had to eventually get it awake by sending a wake on lan packet. This only occurs when i use the mbt gui to enter sleep though, and when i try to wake it with a keyboard and mouse it seems like it wont allow a mouse and keyboard or recognize them as waking the pc, and MBT immediately puts it back to sleep, i think i got it to wake once out of about 9 tries. Wake on lan magic packets works fine however. Could also be screen saver related, one time when i had to use wake on lan magic packet to wake it, the screen saver was active again. Ghostm 74 Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Cross fingers but not getting errors when waking from sleep anymore, hopefully it is fixed and im not just getting lucky. Add thanks to whoever fixed it. Still have the last issue though, once i use the mbt gui to put the system to sleep, it does not want to wake using my keyboard. The pc will wake like it should, but then it will go back to sleep as if mbt does not recognize the pc has been awaken. Sending magic packet wake on lan can wake it however.
Ghostm 74 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Not to keep harping on this but my "unhandled exception. Cannot set Visibility or call show, ShowDialog, or WindowInterophelper.EnsureHandle after a window has closed." did return today when i woke my pc. Just dont want to report something is fixed when its still happening. I am going to just wait until i can disable the screen saver before reporting in this thread again. Im guessing that will fix these issues.

Im guessing that will fix these issues. we have implemented some basic screen saver selection infrastructure and you should be able to turn off the screen saver (select none) in the next release. I really want to fix the sleep/screensaver bug - can you summarise you experience and I'll see if I can replicate it
Ghostm 74 Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Thanks for your time shaun. Basically i set my pc to sleep after about 40 minutes in windows. I tried to scale sleep down to 20 minutes in windows and it seems to be happening less frequently. Essentially i just leave mb3 open and always running on my htpc, maybe going back to my xbmc days where i simply left xbmc open, i set sleep to about 30-40 minutes in windows, so when i wake my pc mbt is still running and ready to go. Fairly easy for a wife to use as well. I will often wake the pc from a usb keyboard right now (wireless logitech) and this error will be present on screen as soon as i wake my pc with mbt running. Recently after I scaled it down to 20 minutes this error will occur in 1 out of 3 times. Other times when i wake my pc the screen saver with mbt logo gliding across will be on screen when i wake it, but it will be stuck. I will have to ctrl alt delete and force close it. A bit more info maybe found in this thread http://mediabrowser3...eep-crash-logs/ Edited April 2, 2014 by Ghostm
Ghostm 74 Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Disabling screen saver has fixed this error after testing for a few days, no crashes
Shaun 93 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Disabling screen saver has fixed this error after testing for a few days, no crashes Thats great news, now we know where to look. Now if you could do me a favour and generate a log by 1. Turn the debug log setting on in MBT 2. Turn the screen save setting back on 3. Run a scenario that will generate a crash get and send me the logs so I can see where it is crashing. thanks shaun
Ghostm 74 Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 Wayne did post a log of this issue here http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/4787-mbt-sleep-crash-logs/ But it was feb 15, do you need a newer one or is the one wayne posted above ok?
Shaun 93 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I would like to a see a log form your machine where the Screensaver is at fault Wayne did post a log of this issue here http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/4787-mbt-sleep-crash-logs/ But it was feb 15, do you need a newer one or is the one wayne posted above ok?
Shaun 93 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I had added this a bug to our issue log and will try to get to it sooner or later: MBT error when waking from sleep #151 see https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser.Theater/issues/151
Ghostm 74 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 My debug logs might not be as usefuls as wayne, all i can find is this before it went to sleep, http://pastebin.com/WyeW7dc7 And this was the small log after waking where the unhandled acception error appears on screen and you click ok and it closes mbt. But doesnt look like much. http://pastebin.com/cyigGavu
Ghostm 74 Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Actually got another log hopefully more helpful. http://pastebin.com/FXk6Ckg3
jojodancer 1 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Disabling screen saver has fixed this error after testing for a few days, no crashes I have it disabled and still receive this same error :-(
