Unable to connect to server

So i recently installed 3.2.70.0 on a fresh copy of windows and initially, the installer was halted by something and so i had to cancel it and restart the installer. After doing this, emby installed properly and i was able to launch it successfully as well as accessing it from the localhost:8096 site from the server pc. 

 

The issue is that whenever i try to connect from any device that is not the host, namely an LG TV and an Ipad Air (both running latest emby update), i get the error message "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again."

 

I have tried to connect via multiple web browsers on both devices to no success. Also, whenever i try to connect a device to the server it shows up in the recent activity bar on the host, which, i guess means it was able to contact the server long enough to tell it the device existed.

 

I have also tried everything internally related on the connectivity support page and this has also led to no success.

 

Hopefully someone would be able to help me out

 

(I've only been using emby for a month or two so don't really know my way around in depth within the settings so may need some assistance)

i dont think so, i went into the windows firewall and made an exception for both the port and programs as well as completely disabling it for a while with no results

Hi there @@Jpowers999. I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter. Please try the steps listed there and let us know exactly which ones succeed and which ones do not. thanks !

 

So i tried all the "fixes" within the In-Network connections and none of them have worked. I have also run multiple full system scans with restarts of both the server-program and the entire system. I have noticed that whenever i type the server address into any browser, the host system shows that a user has logged in. However, the device is unable to connect even though the server recognises the attempt to connect.

 

Im still not too sure how to go about this as i have tried to see if fixes from other community threads would work but have still been unsuccessful

Ok so i was completely unable to connect with any device. But, i think the problem fixed itself. I started the server this morning and the address which had been [redacted] changed to that of 10.1.1.239:8096. The server seems to work normally now. I think it might have helped that i removed all emby files and privileges from the firewall and then restarted and left it over night after reinstalling.
