xbmcgotham 35 Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Hi, Just wondering does the podcast plugin do anything with the
URL of a particular episode? I imported this part of the RSS feed, but no link is presented in the podcast episode gui. Or do I need to use a different parameter so emby scrapes it as a particular episode website link?

Podcast Episode #196
-->

bla bla bla

<itunes:author>bla bla</itunes:author> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit> <itunes:duration>1:33:24</itunes:duration>

Luke 42077 Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Looking at the code it doesn't appear to support any links right now.
xbmcgotham 35 Posted January 20, 2018 Author Posted January 20, 2018 Thanks for checking @@Luke. Would you like me to add this as a feature request or have you already marked this?
xbmcgotham 35 Posted January 20, 2018 Author Posted January 20, 2018 Thanks @@Luke Only thing I would add if you are working on this link for the specific episode page url, is to also enable html coding within the description. For example, my descriptions has links to images that are used in the podcast episodes. Currently they are not clickable on the page, but the rss feed has the html hyperlink available. e.g.

What On Earth Is Happening #196

Date: 2016-01-11
Topics: Excuses people make for immoral Order-Followers, Allegiance To Truth And Freedom is higher than allegiance to family, Order-Followers as Cult Members, True Courage, Obama's Executive Orders regarding firearms, Disarming Anti-Authoritarians and Veterans, the Oregon standoff with Militia members at the Mahler Wildlife Refuge, Standing up to Tyranny, How the Oregon Militia members' situation differs from the situation of the Occupy Protesters, Saying The Lost Word "NO," Overt Criminals vs. Occult Criminals, Courage to stand up to bullies and tyrants, Left-Brained "EggHeads," Right-Brained "Spiritualists," the Cowardice of people who are Brain-Imbalanced, how the situation we face is NOT A JOKE, the Importance of the R-Complex of the Brain, the Importance of Preparedness and Self-Defense, "Having The Psychopath," Apocalypse vs. Armageddon, Idiots who belive government propaganda about ISIS being their biggest threat, Philadelphia Police Officer shooting "in the name of Islam," Operation Cyclone, the covert radicalization of Islam by the CIA and ISI, "Charlie Wilson's War."
Related Images: 1 | 2 | 3

<itunes:author>Mark Passio</itunes:author> <itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit> <itunes:duration>1:33:24</itunes:duration>
Thanks, and go and have a nice drink.
xbmcgotham 35 Posted January 21, 2018 Author Posted January 21, 2018 And I like to add, to also index and show the
and any of the other "itunes" available parameters in the gui, including being able to download the podcast to make available offline. Just my thoughts after using it. :-)
sundevil67 28 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Anyone able to point me to a URL out there that elaborates just a wee bit on the setup required for this plugin....something slightly more dummy-proof. I'd like to add just a couple of podcasts now that I've taken the next step beyond movies & photos and have imported my entire music library as well. Good riddance, iTunes! It's not urgent, but it's something to put off trying to fiddle with the IPTV plugin which is for sure going to be much more difficult. I'm pretty much stuck on step 1 - what does a typical URL look like? Should I expect to be able to find a 'main' URL that'd indicate a desire to subscribe? Forgive me if these are dumb questions, but I went to the site of the most popular podcast (adamcarolla.com), and tried a variety of feeds...then I assumed it worked like the other library additions, but couldn't find any content option for 'Podcast', so I really can't even tell if the links I entered are valid. Anyone?

Anyone? @@sundevil67, a podcast rss feed is a special type of url. This might help you learn more about them: https://www.podcast.co/create/podcast-rss-feeds Many news related websites will have rss urls that you could add to the podcast plugin. For example, these cnn podcasts have rss urls: https://www.cnn.com/specials/podcasts Not all rss feeds contain playable media though. In fact I'm not sure those cnn ones do.
sundevil67 28 Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 I can get the Podcasts working but only if I download each episode individually & then copy the .mp3 files to a directory connected to an Emby library...which I can already tell is going to be more effort than I'm going to spend. I've tried a number of RSS links but I don't see any way to set it up the way you would in say iTunes where you can specify how many episodes to sync.
sundevil67 28 Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 If I don't, nothing appears in the Podcast library
Luke 42077 Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 You probably did not give it a valid podcast rss url. Are you sure you did?
sundevil67 28 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I think I've cobbled together a solid workaround...using iTunes to subscribe to Podcasts & then set up an app called 'OneWaySync' to update the folders connected to the Emby library. Unfortunately it only works for each podcast folder & not the whole library with nested folders...but I don't listen to that many so it works.
Luke 42077 Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 All you need is a valid podcast rss url and then you can import that into the podcasts plugin.
sundevil67 28 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 If this isn't a valid podcast URL, I'm not sure what is - I selected the 'Copy Podcast URL' option from the contextual menu within iTunes (screenshot below), which produces 'http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheAdamCarollaShow'.I then add that URL to the plugin settings page, but there's still no recognition by Emby unless I physically download the .mp3 files & copy them to the corresponding directory. All you need is a valid podcast rss url and then you can import that into the podcasts plugin.
Luke 42077 Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 That doesn't look like a valid rss url. Try clicking on that and it says invalid feed request.
