CatSama 1 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 (edited) tried the 3.2.70.1. Emby still doesn't use the first picture as thumbnail in some cases. for example: Emby use the 3rd picture as thumbnail. Edited May 28, 2019 by CatSama
Luke 42077 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 ok yes I can reproduce this example, it's just a sorting issue, thanks.
CatSama 1 Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 (edited) Hi, this sorting issue is still there, will that be fixed?@@Luke Edited March 10, 2018 by CatSama
CatSama 1 Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 (edited) It's on our list for review, thanks. I'm using 3.6.0.39 now. I can see Emby made some changes but........ too aggressive. Emby use the first item's primary as thumbnail but not the first picture now. For example, Emby use the sub-folder's primary as parent-folder's thumbnail, it's very inconvenient in some folder structure. And we can see the "_title01.jpg" and "_title02.jpg" at the bottom. “_” Shouldn't be at the forefront? Edited September 9, 2018 by CatSama
Luke 42077 Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 I would check the sort titles for each of those.
CatSama 1 Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 I would check the sort titles for each of those. Hi, @@Luke. I checked github everyday and tried every beta version, but we still get those problem. is there any progress for this case?
CatSama 1 Posted December 7, 2018 Author Posted December 7, 2018 (edited) What are the sort titles of each? the default setting is sort by Folders, and I tried sort by Name and others sort mode, they all have this problem. Edited December 7, 2018 by CatSama
CatSama 1 Posted December 8, 2018 Author Posted December 8, 2018 Do any of those have sort titles defined? No, I never defined sort titles by myself. I have over 1500 manga in my Emby library. So I can't defined them one by one.
Luke 42077 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Hi, yes i can reproduce this and I apologize but it is due to the way the sqlite database sorts the names with underscore characters. is this one case that big of an issue?
CatSama 1 Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 emmm.....maybe it's not a big deal for most people. But in my case, as I said, I have over 1500 manga in my Emby library. This sort problem really bothered me. I will be very glad if you are willing to fix this sort problem and make Emby use the first picture as thumbnail but not the first item's primary. Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 I was just asking in order to understand, thanks. I think we are going to need a sqlite collation in order to perform natural sorting. do you concur @@MikePlanet?
MikePlanet 144 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Yes, I think that should work. We have to carefully look, where indices are used, they have to match the collation, otherwise it would bring a significant performance penalty (or recreate them, they by default use the collation of the underlying table).
CatSama 1 Posted May 27, 2019 Author Posted May 27, 2019 I'm very glad to see Emby finally fixed most my problem in 4.2.0.8 But this problem is still there,do we have a plan to fix this too? maybe sometimes in future?@@Luke I'm using 3.6.0.39 now. I can see Emby made some changes but........ too aggressive. Emby use the first item's primary as thumbnail but not the first picture now. CatSama 1 Posted May 27, 2019 Author Posted May 27, 2019 (edited) what is the order of that example now? @@Luke No problem with the order now, it should be looks like this: but Emby still use the sub-folder's primary as parent-folder's thumbnail. I know I can upload primary by myself, but as I said, I have over 1500 manga in my Emby library( over 2000 now), it will be a big big project. Edited May 27, 2019 by CatSama
CatSama 1 Posted May 28, 2019 Author Posted May 28, 2019 (edited) Did you test this by creating new test folders? oh.......I apologize....... I deleted my library and created it again, now it works all right !!! Thanks!!! Edited May 28, 2019 by CatSama
Luke 42077 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Thanks for the feedback ! @@MikePlanet we have the sorting collations now. 1
CatSama 1 Posted May 28, 2019 Author Posted May 28, 2019 (edited) Thanks for the feedback ! @@MikePlanet we have the sorting collations now. @@Luke apologize again.... But I found it doesn't really be fixed. When I crated my library again, I really see the thumbnail works right, but when I click "Refresh metadata", the thumbnail changed to the sub-folder's primary. It seems like the thumbnails generated by the first scan are correct when creating new libraries or adding new files to libraries. but there are still problems with the thumbnails generated by refreshing metadata.
