Video stretch to fit screen

Hi All,

I have pretty much switched my media setup to one that uses Chromecast and a tablet. Essentially this is to make it wife / kid friendly.

I have Emby Server running on unRAID (Docker) and the wife (much like Netflix etc) just fires up Emby app, picks something to watch and boom. Job done.

I keep getting nagged though about black bars around videos. These are typically 1080p and I’ve explained these are supposed to be that way (ie original source) but to no avail. Everyone wants the screen “filled”. I have checked the transcoding settings in the server to force to resolution of the tv, but I can’t see an option to. I also can’t see an automated box to select.

This was easy when running Emby in Kodi as I set the Kodi display settings to run in 16:9 Stretch (or whatever it was). I’m being hampered from moving back to Kodi as I can’t launch Netflix (use openelec) free to air apps etc from there.

Is there a solution to this issue or an option I’m missing??

Ta

Alternatively, if there is no solution and an application like Plex would suit the bill .... well, I don’t expect staff to plug a competing product, but a community suggestion to that effect would be helpful! Ta!

Hi, are you saying that even if a video could direct play, you'd want to transcode it just to alter the aspect ratio? Because chromecast doesn't have these features client side.
