silvers4640 0 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Cool. Will do. So i know my system meets minimum requirements, but will it be enough to handle everything that i would like to do?
silvers4640 0 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 First off hello everyone. i have a couple questions about MBS and MB3 that i hope to have answered. This isnt about who and what is better i am just looking for some answers into what is better for me. i have a server that i have setup that holds all my media. I also have a HDhomerun prime setup. I currently use plex as my media server software to share all my content with family and friends. i also use windows media center as my software to watch live tv and xbmc for all my movies. Currently plex doesnt allow chromecast support without being a subscriber and sometimes my friends and relatives have issues streaming content . they will get stuttering and buffering even on low settings. my isp speeds are 50/10mbps so i dont think speed is necessarily the issue. i do have them set their settings to 720kbps or 1mbps. anyways i feel this isnt as effecient as i can get it. my server is a dell optiplex that has a q6600 4gb ddr3 ram geforce gt 210 and 60gb ssd and 1.5tb sata hdd. i would like the ability to stream to my chromecast and android devices locally without a hitch and hopefully also be able have my friends and family be able to stream from me without any problems. i did try MBS 6 months ago and everything was working ok for streaming but my cpu usage was 100% whenever anyone would stream which would then cause my computer to run slow as to where i couldnt use it for myself. Is it now possible to do all the things that i would like with MBS and MB3 or am i still stuck using plex? Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully I can switch from plex.
Luke 42078 Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 We've improved our cpu usage. It can probably still improve more, but it's come a long way. So give it a shot.
