Metadata Language and Original Title

Hello Guys,

I would like to know if there's a way that I can configure my Emby to use portuguese metadata, but keeping the original title for movies and TV show, because I don't want them translated.

For example, I want to have the synopsis in portuguese and the title in english.

Thanks!

Hi, you can configure for Portugese metadata, but we don't currently have an option to display the original title. It's possible for the future. Thanks !

An option to display original title is planned for the future. Thanks.

Any time-frame this is likely to hit? Otherwise I'll go through and edit the metadata by hand: title (original title)

Cheers!

An option to display original title is planned for the future. Thanks.

I don't have a timeframe for you, but i agree this option makes sense. Thanks.

just to wrap up, cause you tend do overlook that things

making it display an already fetched and present value, eg in just a seperate line, takes now more then at least 3 years

I'm considering to switch from Plex to Emby, since I don't like how Plex are handling things. The GUI is quite locked, and no plugins. And they don't seem to care at all about their users. Removing good and popular features (camera upload) and adding crap (arcade). Etc, etc... So I'm looking for a decent alternative.
Emby seems much better, and I really enjoy the gui. Purchased a month to start with, but now I stumbled upon this issue. Hrhrm... This can't be that hard to solve?

Please try to understand the situation:
The titles here in Sweden differ quite a lot from the original titles. By some reason they have decided to make up a new title, instead of translating the existing one.
A few examples:
The Shawshank Redemption = Nyckeln till Frihet, which translates back to the "The Key to Happiness".
Spaceballs = Det våras för rymden, which translates to something like "Things are looking good for space". In fact most of Mel Brooks films are titled like this. "Det våras för Sheriffen" = Blazing Saddles, etc. (Even Mel himself have in fact commented this and urged not to translate his movies so they sound like a series)
Same thing for TV-shows as well. I want to read X-Files, not "Arkiv X". And definitly not "Doktorn kan komma" (~The doctor may come) for "The Flying Doctors"....
So right now when I browse the archive I feel quite lost with all the Swedish titles. That the search works with both titles does not really help me. (Ok, some posters in English helps. But not all... And the movies are still sorted under letters where I don't expect to find them (N for Shawshank for instance))
I would rather keep the database in English of course. But due to popular demand in the family I need to stick to Swedish to plots, etc. But Swedish titles is a dealbreaker for me!

Can someone at least give us a timeframe for when this "feature" will be added? So I know if I should still consider Emby or just stick to Plex...

I don't have an ETA, but we do plan to add options for this. Thanks for the feedback.

Just passing by to ask for it to be added!
@Luke is there anything I could do to help? I'm actually thinking about learning how to code and see if I could help adding the feature haha

There isn't, sorry, but it's something we plan to add.

I keep getting some of my library movie titles translated to Romanian even though I have set up everything to be in english.

Are you telling me there is no option to stop this from happening?

Well, it shouldn't. Do you have NFOs in your media folders?

And in your Library settings, do you maybe have "Prefer embedded titles" option selected?

Edit: What is your preferred meta-scrapers order?

but I never messed with it. it was that by default...

What did you set it to? The default for that is to not prefer embedded titles within video files, because we find that most users are not actually aware of the data within their own videos.
