kkorotev 12 Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 These are EMBY downloads to C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata What's happening here? They're ALL Dark like this. Particularly problematic when using the light theme. Kevin
Luke 42079 Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Those are not downloads, they are extracted from the video using the chapter image extraction feature.
kkorotev 12 Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 OK. Good to know. Thanks. The question remains, however.
Luke 42079 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 What question? What would you like us to do?
kkorotev 12 Posted January 17, 2018 Author Posted January 17, 2018 Help me figure out why they're so dark...and fix the error?
Luke 42079 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 They're dark because we extracted the images from the video and that's how they appear in the video. It is not an error. Does this answer your question?
kkorotev 12 Posted January 17, 2018 Author Posted January 17, 2018 All Fixed! It must have been a temporary local issue as after a universal refresh all the thumbs are back to normal. Thanks, Luke. Kevin
kkorotev 12 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 ...and now they're dark again. Anytime I "refresh metadata/replace all images" Every thumbnail for every file is dark (see above) . How can I permanently fix this? How do I tell "what" to to capture at a higher brightness? OR Do I have to manually fix them all and then "lock this item (each show/movie) to prevent future changes"? tell me it ain't so.... Kevin P.S. Elsewhere on this forum I've mentioned that this is not the only program that produces these results. 3 individual apps do it-consistently. Does that help?
Luke 42079 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Those chapter images are not downloaded. They are extracted by ffmpeg and they should come out the same every time.
kkorotev 12 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 Luke, Yes, you've clarified that before, and again I ask is there a way to FIX it? Kevin
Luke 42079 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 We have no settings to control the appearance of the extracted thumbs, sorry. It should match however they would look if you were watching the video.
kkorotev 12 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 With your knowledge, do you imagine there MAY be something I could do at the codec level?
arrbee99 1815 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Hope I'm not being rude interjecting, but would it be possible (and would it help) to show some before and after screenshots somehow ?
Luke 42079 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 With your knowledge, do you imagine there MAY be something I could do at the codec level? You're saying you want to muck with your video files and affect playback just to make this one screen look nicer?
kkorotev 12 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 arrbe99. Scroll up to the top of this page. Luke, I don't know what I'm asking other than for some help understanding this...and it's not just one screen per file. I invite you to also scroll up and see what I'm talking about.
Luke 42079 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 I have read through this entire thread but that's just how the extracted thumbs look. They will look however the video looks. It might be possible to use custom css to apply some kind of brightness filter, but that's going to affect all your web app users, which means it might not look good if the background is dark. but if you really want to try something like that, @@Happy2Play is pretty handy with custom css.
Luke 42079 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Yes but I'm also using the dark theme so it doesn't bother me.
arrbee99 1815 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Looked at your top post (and the others). Might be best to avoid Blade Runner 2049... 1
kkorotev 12 Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 I have no idea what that suggestion means or pertains to.
arrbee99 1815 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Sorry. Just saying as you don't like the chapter images to be too dark, the chapter images in Blade Runner are really really dark and the ones you showed are pretty bright in comparison. So its not to be taken too seriously
kkorotev 12 Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 Is Blade Runner an Emby theme? I simple have both options set to light, never saw any names for the themes.
arrbee99 1815 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 No. Of all the movies I have it just happens to be the one that, for me, has the darkest chapter images. I think there's a black frame in the movie at a lot of the chapter markers that Emby happens to pick so most of them are black.
kkorotev 12 Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 HA! Avoid the movie title "BLADE RUNNER". Got it. ;-) 2
