BoxSets vs Collections; New Feature

Hi guys,

I'd like to ask for a new feature with Collections.

I would like to see different types (or categories) of collections enabled. The current system is good for BoxSets and keeps movies grouped conveniently.

But I would like to make other types of collections that I don't want in the same display as the boxsets. For example, I want to have a collection of Oscar winning movies, and one for movies that have been remade, and another for all the IMDb Top 250 movies, etc. I can make all those collections today with the current system, but they all get stored in the same place and show up only in the "Collections" of Box Sets feature.

If there were another location, I could have 2 (or more) separate types of collections. I could name one of them BoxSets and the other could be named Collections. Maybe for coding purposes you could just call them Collections1, Collections2, etc.

I hope I explained this clearly.

I think it's a good idea for the future.

I use libraries for this functionality. As an example, I have a Movies Library. One of its folders holds all my Disney Animation movies. I also have a Disney Animation library that holds the same movies. Another library for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A few others. Goes against the idea of not organizing by directory but it is the only way it works in Emby.

+1, but I want to go further:

For instance, I would like to create a collection "Marvel Cinematic Universe", and inside multiple folders ("Phase I", "Phase II" ...).

For each "Phase", I want to mix TV and movies in order to respect a "viewing order" such as this one:

https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/mcu-timeline-watch-order-marvel-cinematic-universe-film-movie-tv-show-netflix-avengers-black-panther-a8210821.html

Another approch (maybe more simple), would be to add TMDB's lists in metadata:

Regards,
zer

I use a playlist for my MCU movies and have them in chronological order according a similar timeline I found.  You can probably add TV episodes like Shield to the same playlist I would think.  I can even drag and drop items to reorder them within the list.  You probably can't do the nested folders though.  It would just be one long list if you included episodes

Can’t you just do this with genres?
