DTS getting re-encoded

I have my Fire Stick plugged directly into my soundbar which supports DolbyDigital and DTS.

 

When I playback a video that has DTS format, this gets re-encoded to AC3 5.1.

 

Is there any way of getting DTS passed directly to my soundbar, rather than going via a lossy re conversion.

Sorry, I was moving too fast this morning but thank you for including the logs.

 

The Fire TV device does not support DTS so our app cannot do it at the moment.

Ah I did wonder, I'm guessing this is probably a licencing issue & Amazon won't pay up.

 

Is DTS > AC3 been converted with the highest possible bit-rate to minimize loss?

Unfortunately, the Fire TV also only supports DD up to 384kb/s so that is what we convert to.

 

If you can't hear the difference though, just enjoy .

Looking at the stats for Amazon Fire, it does support DD+, could this be a future option to allow for a higher bit rate re-code?

I'm not sure that would increase its supported bitrate for the audio - just the format and number of channels.  I know the codec itself supports higher bitrates but the device doesn't even handle the max bitrate capable for normal AC3.
