Anyone else using Caddy as a hosting server?

I recently came into some trouble while using caddy.

 

I had to change my domain name because the amount of money to renew it was really expensive and it was cheaper to purchase a new one.

 

However when I changed the Caddyfile with the new domain name, it wouldn't create a proper certificate and thus the server will not run.

 

Does anyone have any experience with caddy? Would someone mind taking a moment to help we trouble shoot some issues?

 

I'd like to get my emby server back up again since it is proxied behind caddy

used it in the past but now use nginx. 

 

does it create any cert? is it creating the test one?

it is creating a '.caddy' folder which contains some 'acme' information.

 

Even though my domain is pointing back to my External IP address, caddy is returning an error which shows

I have created a rule for my router which allows 443 and 80, I created a firewall rule which allows Caddy to pass through, and yet still unable to get the server up. Edited January 14, 2018 by chef

your domain name is there, might want to remove it

its saves the certs in the users folder somewhere. there might be a csr and key there from previous domain name which might cause issues

I deleted that folder and tried to re run caddy, and still no joy.

 

Very strange.

 

If I run caddy with "http://MYDOMAIN"the server will run but browsing to that domain will call up my security cameras for my home, which is really strange because none of the IP cams are even proxied in the Caddyfile.

 

If I use just the domain name without 'http://' the server errors.

 

Unfortunately I haven't the foggiest what is happening. How, I wonder, are my IP camera streams even being picked up by caddy.

 

Makes me worried.

An entire day later and I found the bloody problem...

 

Make sure Network firewall settings for both port 80 is set on your modem for internal and enteral.

 

Then make sure you do the same again for port 443.

 

In windows firewall, make sure your server has permissions to pass through on those very same ports.
