Cast to TV with no internet

I have Emby set up on my home server, and everything works. I am able to use the cast button from my devices to select my Sony TV and cast to it. However, when the internet is unplugged from the router, I can no longer cast to the TV. When I push the cast button, the loading icon spins indefinitely and never gives me the list of devices to cast to. My TV can see the Emby DLNA server just fine, but it shows all my media jumbled together so it isn't useful to play from. Everything else on Emby seems to work fine without internet access.

Hi, can you provide the emby server log from this attempt? Thanks.

It seems to be working now. I restarted my router and my server host computer a few times. Here is the log from earlier today. Thanks!

It happened again at 5:23 PM. Here are some more logs. I believe I restarted with the internet off, and was able to cast to the TV. I plugged the internet back in for a while, but removed it later and was not able to cast again.

Ok, I think I see what's causing it. please try again with the next release of emby server, thanks.

I'm not sure if you addressed this issue already in 3.2.70.1-beta, but I'm still not able to cast while offline. It has also been showing me ads for premier (the images don't load) and making me wait before videos sometimes even though I already have premier. The Windows Emby theater app will not let me play videos either.

Can we look at a new server log? thanks.

After restarting my router and computer today, I noticed the cast button was working again. I tried to cast something to my TV, but it gave an error "Media format not supported". The audio played, but the video didn't. The errors in the logs look different this time, so I thought it might help. The cast button is no longer working.

What do you mean exactly by cast button is no longer working?

When I press it while offline, it just spins the loading icon indefinitely. It seems to work properly for a while after the internet is disconnected (cached file?) but then it goes back to just spinning the loading icon.

@@Happy2Play and @, have you seen this when disconnecting the network? it seems to work fine for me. thanks.

Here's what seems to reproduce the issue for me:

  1. Disconnect internet cable from router. At this point, Emby seems to work properly on any devices that were recently using Emby with the internet.. Even after restarting Emby or the computer it's running on. everything works fine and I can cast to the TV normally. Last time, I was getting an error where Emby would only cast the audio and give an error for the video, but it seems to be working now.
  2. Use another browser or another device that has not loaded Emby recently, and press the cast button. the loading bar spins indefinitely.
  3. After a few hours, the cast button stops working on the first browser too.

My internet is tied up, for while. I can't pull the plug to test this.

I think I was able to reproduce this

Steps I used

Was using Edge browser with Emby when started

Disconnected Internet

Started Chrome

Opened a movie using web server on Chrome

Clicked Cast to on Chrome and got constant spinner (I was still able to click Cast to using Edge though so maybe there was some kind of hook still left from before internet was disconnect)

Plugged internet back in

Cast to now works on Chrome
