shavid0610 0 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Hi Having just reloaded my HTPC with Windows 7 after giving up on WMC on Windows 10 I noted that metadata for my new media was missing. I use MCM to download, sort and create metadata for my library. Did some googling and discovered that xml reading was no longer built in to Emby so I downloaded the XML plug in, re-started the Emby server and WMC but still no metadata on my new media. Looking at older movies etc the metadata is there but things I have added recently have nothing. Looking at the media through the Emby library on a web browser showed no metadata for these titles either. The xml document is definitely in the files and has content in it but for some reason Emby Server and Emby Plug In for WMC are not reading the information even with the plug in. I have XML Plug In 3.1.9.0 Emby Sever Version 3.2.60.0
ebr 16185 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Hi. Please refresh an item and post the log. How to Report a Problem

Dashboard-Library_Metadata-select each content type Did you perform a Library Scan after installing the plugin?
shavid0610 0 Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 (edited) Hi Thank you for responding. Yes, after I restarted each program I re-scanned all the libraries. I had also previously turned off the get meta data from internet thing in Emby Server. That option seems to have disappeared now though, it isn't in the library, metadata screen any more. I have refreshed the movie American Made in Emby for WMC and via the web browser and attach the log as requested. Log.txt Edited January 13, 2018 by shavid0610
Luke 42080 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Yes, after I restarted each program I re-scanned all the libraries. I had also previously turned off the get meta data from internet thing in Emby Server. That option seems to have disappeared now though, it isn't in the library, metadata screen any more. Hi, it's not a global setting anymore. It's something you set for each library individually. Did you forget to attach the log?
shavid0610 0 Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 Sorry, log attached now. I have checked a few of the "customise for each media type" options and none of them show up the option to turn on or off the get metadata from the internet. I only went searching for it to ensure I had it turned off as I want it to use the xml file within the media folders and now I cannot find it anywhere.
shavid0610 0 Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 On a separate topic has movie classifications been removed from Emby for WMC? I just noticed none of my movies are sgowing the rating classification any more. I used to have the au rating icons saved to a Images by name folder so these images would appear. Found my old post on this and the location of the IBN folder is not in the same location any more. Not sure when this disappeared but is there any way to get it back?
Luke 42080 Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 No, they haven't been removed. You would have to customize these images again in your new installation just like you did before.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Rating classification resolved in another topic. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/4487-australian-classifications/?p=532456
ebr 16185 Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 I have checked a few of the "customise for each media type" options and none of them show up the option to turn on or off the get metadata from the internet. The setting is per library, not per media type. Look at the settings for your individual libraries.
shavid0610 0 Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 The setting is per library, not per media type. Look at the settings for your individual libraries. Thank you, found that setting and have confirmed I have internet metadata turned off. Still no metadata showing for my new media though even though the xml file is in place in the folders. Anyone have a chance to look at the log and see what the problem might be? Thank You
Happy2Play 9781 Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) Just installed new a portable and xml plugin and added library. "Download artwork and metadata from the internet" disabled. Don't see any issues. This test was done on current beta server though. ***Tested on stable also without issue. Edited January 14, 2018 by Happy2Play

shavid0610 0 Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 @@shavid0610, what metadata exactly is missing? Hi The synopsis is missing. The actors are all there, and the media info. I attach 2 screen shots, the first showing an older media file (127 Hours) that is working fine and the second showing the missing information (The Mountain Between Us). I will also attach a snip from the xml file for The Mountain Between us, which has the metadate present for the synopsis. I also had the Australian Classifications Icons working yesterday but today they have vanished again, so not sure what that is all about. Sharon

Don't see any issues. This test was done on current beta server though. ***Tested on stable also without issue. Hi The issues I am having is within Emby for WMC with no synopsis showing up for new media. owever, I looked at a new title through the web browser and found that it is hsowing taglines only and not the synopsis there either, snips attached.
Solution Luke 42080 Posted January 15, 2018 Solution Posted January 15, 2018 Ok, so there's no Emby problem here, the problem is your xml. I don't know what software created that Xml, but it's formatted differently from the xml we support using the xml metadata plugin. For example, the overview should be in a node called "Overview" or "Description", not Synopsis. Sorry. At this point the best thing to do is refresh the titles manually using Emby and let Emby fetch internet metadata. 1
Happy2Play 9781 Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 As far as I know Emby only reads "Overview" not "Synopsis". So is that field populated?
shavid0610 0 Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 Hi My XML's are created with Media Center Master and all the previous media titles are working fine. It's only the new media I have added since re-loading the HTPC with Windows 7 and re-loading Emby from scratch along with MCM and all my other programs. Looking at an older xml it shows the overview is there but is missing with the new ones, so I'll follow up with Pete and see if he has changed something in the MCM settings that is not generating this field any more. Thank you for your help. Sharon
Happy2Play 9781 Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) I use MCM and the screenshot above is xml metadata. Replied to post on MCM also. Edited January 15, 2018 by Happy2Play
