Emby and Digital Devices Network TV Tuner

Hello,

I am new to emby and I hope that I don't ask obvious questions.

(if so, sorry !)

I am currently using mediaportal - but I am not fully happy with it.

Therefore I started with emby and created a test installation

(running at windows)

One important topic for me is live tv.

I bought a Digital Devices "Octopus NET S2 Max" network tv-tuner (SAT-IP)

https://digitaldevices.de/produkte/netzwerk-tv-tuner/octopus-net-s8/

What is the best way to integrate my network-tv-tuner into emby?

(it seems that there is a build in support for m3u and there are several live-tv plugins available)

I also plan to add some additional TVs which should be able to emby and also live-tv.

One possibility would be to use tv sticks like "amazon fire tv" - what else?

The idea: Simple to use

Any recommendations?

With best regards,

Stefan

Hi, welcome. We don't support this tuner natively, so what you could do is keep media portal as a live tv back end, and then use the media portal live tv plugin for emby.

That's one option. Another option would be that if your tuner has an m3u feature, you could import the m3u directly into emby.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Ok, based on MediaPortal TV Server.

The tv-tuner web-side allows downloading a m3u file (which I can use with vlc.

This could work.

Does emby retrieve the tv guide via epg?

You'll have to setup a guide provider, either schedules direct or xmltv.

Is this a must - also when I use MediaPortal or DVB-Viewer as backend.

I know that MediaPortal TV Server backend supports epg.

No, with the plugins you can use the guide data that is coming from the backends.
