Coverart and Multiple Versions

Hello,

I am using the multiple versions feature where I have the same movie but different resolutions in the same folder.  I am also using CoverArt to display an HD or SD overlay.  I have upgraded some of my movies to HD so I added them to the same folder as the SD version.  CoverArt still shows the SD overlay, but I want it to reflect the HD version.  Is there some way to trigger it to re-evaluate the cover?  What is the criteria CoverArt uses to determine whether to display HD or SD when you have a folder with both.

Thanks.

Good day,

Try naming the HD as like this:

moviename (year) - HD.mkv

Always  space after the file name will let CA look to it as the first title and will apply the cover treatment.

It will not always correct, but try and see if it work out.

That's what I tried, but it didn't help.  I tried removing the nfo files and rescanning, but so far, the nfo files aren't being regenerated. :-(

Good day,

Delete the nfo file (metadata) then do full library scan from the task menu.

Maybe latest beta emby server change something, but from some few beta build, it work for me:

It a matters of naming test that will either work or fail.

Thanks.  For the example you provided do you have one or two nfo files?  If you have one, which version did it pick?

I was hoping the latest server and coverart plugin update would solve the problem, but it hasn't unfortunately.

I use multiple versions and I use Coverart to display movies with HD and with SD so it helps me to know where I can do upgrades.

In some cases it appears that Coverart triggers off of the HD version (which is what I want) and sometimes it picks the SD version (I don't want that).

How does Coverart decide which file to use when using multiple versions?  Is there any way I can force it to use the HD version?

Thanks.

Hi.  CoverArt is just looking at properties provided by the server and I think those properties are somewhat up to chance right now.  We need to look into ways to make them either more predictable or configurable.

Hello,

I'm just wondering if there has been any movement on this.

Would it be possible to have coverart select the version with the highest resolution when deciding the SD vs. HD overlay?

Perhaps it is cluing on the nfo file used in the metadata manager.  For some strange reason this is happening:

I have Halloween, the extended TV version in SD and the theatrical in HD.  Emby is selecting the extended TV version as the default nfo file in the metadata manager while the actual default version in the interface is the HD theatrical which is what I want.  Is there a way to change that?

I look forward to improvements in the multiple version handling and coverart.

Thanks.

we haven't yet had a chance to circle back to this yet.

I just ran into this issue today after presenting a merged folder structure to Emby. Emby detects the multiple versions just fine, but Coverart is confused and behaves inconsistently.

Coverart should at least be intelligent enough to choose the version with the highest resolution and generate a cover based on that. Ideally it should have an option for a stacked cover that clearly indicates multiple files available, similar to collections.
