Win 7 Sp1 installation of emby server not starting

I decided to format the computer from ubuntu back to win 7 sp1 to be able to install emby server again as the ubuntu installation had problems mapping to the NAS drive with login credentials.

 

I downloaded the windows install program and ran it as administrator. The install window popped up after a while and started to download the emby server (the text said). After coming back to the computer I noticed the emby install window was gone and that in the program folder 2 items were created. the emby server and emby server dashboard.

 

I clicked on the emby server and selected to run as administrator. However nothing happened. I checked the web browser and the site was not responding. I also checked the service and processes tab in the task manager, but no emby related items were present.

 

I than tried again to install it, but same result. No errors where shown or a notification that install was succesfull. (not sure if this would happen with the emby installation process)

 

What is going on? I hope this is an easy fix.

Have you installed all Windows updates for sp1?

 

I performed this test in a vm yseterday and after all 185 updates installed, Emby started fine.

* Supports Windows 7 SP1 or newer version of Windows. If running Windows 7 please make sure Windows Updates are fully up to date.

@@Happy2Play Thanks for the tip. I thought I had installed all, but surprise again, more appeared after requesting the sync. :-)

 

I also noticed that the install must be done after all the important updates are installed otherwise it will not install correctly.

 

So the service runs now. Up to the next challenge. :-)
