cmh32765 4 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 @@Luke, I would like the Week to show as a single movie with multiple parts(as some do). Thereby creating only one entry in the web browser/database for each week. as opposed to: some of the weeks being single movie with multiple parts(correct) and the others listed as single movies which creates a lot of entries (over 40 in this case) in the web browser/database and no multi-part entries. @@BATTLE DONKEY Sounds interesting. Maybe something I could try if I can not get it to work in the movies section. I would also like these to be part of collections once I get them sorted out. Thanks guys
cmh32765 4 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 I have a questions regarding the setup of multipart files. I am not sure exactly how I am supposed to proceed. I have a series of training videos that come separated by week and then by file and need to remain separated for ease of use. I have named them following the hexadecimal style like so. movie name 01 (2013) |__ movie name week one-part1.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part2.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part3.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part4.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part5.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part6.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part7.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part8.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part9.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partA.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partB.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partC.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partD.mp4 movie name 02 (2013) |__ movie name week two-part1.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part2.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part3.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part4.mp4 movie name 03 (2013) |__ movie name week two-part1.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part2.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part3.mp4 ... and so on for : movie name 08 (2013) movie name 09 (2013) movie name 10 (2013) |__ movie name week two-part1.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part2.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part3.mp4 I also tried partA - PartL and Part01 - Part13 and those did not work either. They are still separated. Maybe it would help to include the directory structure after the scan runs... On the directories that create one movie entry with the multi part files listed under it look like this: movie name 02 (2013) |__ movie name week two-part1.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part2.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part3.mp4 |__ movie name week two-part4.mp4 |__ movie.xml |__ poster.jpg The movies that break themselves apart into separate files look like this: movie name 01 (2013) |__ movie name week one-part1.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part1.xml |__ movie name week one-part2.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part2.xml |__ movie name week one-part3.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part3.xml |__ movie name week one-part4.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part4.xml |__ movie name week one-part5.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part5.xml |__ movie name week one-part6.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part6.xml |__ movie name week one-part7.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part7.xml |__ movie name week one-part8.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part8.xml |__ movie name week one-part9.mp4 |__ movie name week one-part9.xml |__ movie name week one-partA.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partA.xml |__ movie name week one-partB.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partB.xml |__ movie name week one-partC.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partC.xml |__ movie name week one-partD.mp4 |__ movie name week one-partD.xml |__ poster.jpg The common thing is that the weeks that break themselves up all have files that go above part 9. I am assuming that this is part of my issue. However, just to make sure I did not do anything weird I have taken a look at the xml files on the folders that are "working correctly". I made updated files for the weeks that did not work. Saved all that out. I have completely started over with a new database with said updated xml files and end up with the same result. I tried it again today on Version 3.0.5182.21848. I am hoping that someone can point me in the correct direction on what I am doing incorrectly. Thank you for any help with this. I appreciate it.
Luke 42078 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 what exactly is the desired behavior you're looking for?
BATTLE DONKEY 98 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Why dont you set it up as a tv show instead. You can have each individual day as a "season" and the individual parts as "episodes". Obviously you will have to fill in your own metadata afterwards and lock it so the server doesn't try to fetch it after
Luke 42078 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 The library wiki covers the multi-part convention so I would refer to that first. Hexadecimal is not a supported convention. The parts need to be numeric base 10 in order to be combined. If any single video within the folder does not follow the convention then every video in the folder is considered separate.
cmh32765 4 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 @@Luke Thank you for pointing me there, Unfortunately, I have also tried other combinations of the names. part1-part13 part01-part13 partA-partL None of these past 9 will combine into one library item with multiple parts. It will always separate them out. At least after deleting the library entry(which deletes the entire folder from the server) coping this folder back with a new naming convention. rescanning the media folders Maybe the code is only setup to deal with up to 9? Thanks for any more info you may have on this.
BATTLE DONKEY 98 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I dont have any movies with that many file parts but out of curiosity have u tried naming each part 001,002,003...? I'm not sure if that would work but never know cause windows itself is always finicky about naming and numbers, I've had to do that with music to get it to play and display in order. I still say setting it up as a tv show might be ur best bet if ur willing to spend some time on the metadata because as is multi part movies can't be played unless u remote start the other parts (part 2,part 3, etc) from the web client. If u create a new media collection calling it "instructional videos" (or whatever it is) then assignt it a tv show like I described above u will be able to see each "episode" and the description so u can pick what ur looking for easily
cmh32765 4 Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 @BattleDonkey numbering those with three places(000-013) did not work either. Was the same result. I am thinking over your TV thoughts and they seems like I can make that work. I will check that out. Thanks again for your help!
