And I'm about to rollout pfSense on an Intel n3050. But to my defense I only have a 25Mbps connection

I've got a 270 Mb/s, and I use most of it. If after the patch its struggling, I can always switch out.

Shouldn't need much as far as hardware. Like I said 2-8% on my i5 5200U. I have hardware accelerated encryption enabled with AES-NI support. 12% of 8GB RAM used. 5-20% increase isn't terrible to me.

The only thing I would recommend is spend for the Intel NIC.

I am planning on doing a quad NIC when I build my vmhost, then PFSENSE will be fully virtualized.
