blucmal 0 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Ok now that the lovely tv manufacturers have dropped 3d tv [emoji34] and I just had to replace my 3d tv with a lovely 2d tv [emoji34]how do I play all my 3d mkv mvc rips as 2d instead of 2 seperate images[emoji34] just remove the 3d tag? Or do I need to reencode yet again......[emoji34] Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
Luke 42077 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Keep them as is and have emby server transcode them, or re encode them. Please let us know if this helps.
Waldonnis 148 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 (edited) If they're MVC, then they should just play the 2D primary video stream without needing to do anything special. If you want to remove the 3D stream entirely, you can just remux the files so they don't include the MVC stream in the output (which might be what Emby does, but on-the-fly). There shouldn't be a need to re-encode them, though, since the only complete video stream in the files should be the AVC (h.264) 2D primary-eye presentation (the MVC stream is kinda like a diff file, not a complete video stream). If they were SBS/TAB/FS, re-encoding would be needed, along with some scaling or frame filtering/discarding. Oh, almost forgot - some 3D movies are intentionally brightened a bit because how 3D is technically projected/presented can lead to a darker picture, so even the 2D stream from a 3D MVC source will seem bright or overly vivid. You may not notice it or even care (it's usually not that bad and many people actually like it better), but if you do notice and don't like the effect, you may want to dig out a 2D-only copy (if you have it) and use that instead. blucmal 0 Posted January 6, 2018 Author Posted January 6, 2018 They are mvc 3d makemkv rips but when they play they look like sbs video with two videos playing next to each other .i will remove the 3d tag and rescan library see if that works..not sure how you get server to transcode to 2d. I was under the impression that if the tv was not 3d capable it would just play as 2d. But both the lg tv app and nexus player app play it like a 3d sbs video on a non 3d screen.. Waldonnis 148 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Great! Glad it worked out and glad you didn't have to re-encode anything
