mbc0 68 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Hi, I have recently moved from Plex (Used XBMC media management for years before that) & have to say I love the media management but just have some questions about the future of the software :-) 1, I am having issues as you know with the naming conventions for the home videos, hopefully that will be disabled for that folder type as surely it is unnecessary, or at least an option to do so. 2, Transcoding, What are your intentions on streaming to clients? for example, My parents watched a video last night on their media center through media theater and there was no transcoding at all? no options on the client end and no options dependent on device on the server end.. it just streamed from my server the whole file on the internet. Also I watched a TV Episode whilst I was on my break at work last night on my Nexus 7 (3G) and the quality was excellent but no options to reduce the quality to prevent the pausing/buffering problems I was having although I had full H Signal. 3, Resume option on the Android Client? this was quite annoying as had to move away to help a customer a couple of times on my break and when on 3g it took a while to get to where i was watching. 4, Media Management, I saw yesterday that the next release will have the option to select the closest title match rather than having to look for the correct title on imdb & copy the number into the server for a match, is that far away from being released? only because I have hundreds of titles that need correcting and want to know wether to wait or not. I have to say though I am so glad I found mediabrowser and am looking forward to seeing how it moves forward... Thank you for a great piece of software!
ebr 16172 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 2 - The HTPC clients directly play your content - they don't stream them. MBT, can stream/transcode if necessary but they may not have gotten to any configuration options for it yet. The server, however, does have some global options for selecting streaming quality. The other clients that do stream all have settings you can change for quality vs. performance I believe. Ask in those app's specific areas for guidance there. Overall, our transcoding is improving every day thanks to the work of Tikuf and Luke and many other testers. 3 - Ask about this in the Android area. 4 - I would guess it will be available in a week or so. 1
