Hi ... a simple question. Does MBT work with TMT6 as an external player and if so does it allow playback from ripped bluray folders? I've been trying this setup for a while but cant get it to work, why i do not know because i have no problem with TMT6 outside of MBT. Anyone able to give any setup tips?

are you having issues getting MB to load TMT? or getting TMT to play the file after its loaded from MB?

Both ... not sure which TMT6 exe to point at. I've tried the launch.exe and also the mce.exe versions. Both take an age to load tge tmt6 frontend but nothing ever plays. Just need ti know whether its possible or should i give up trying. Most of my viewing is from bluray folders. I know i can remux to mkv but would rather retain full bluray playback with menus. Possible or not with MB3?

Oops. No idea how that happened?

i've not used TMT with MBT but have done previously when i was using MBC and WMC. Do you use the folders because you want the additional content? I've always prefered to remux them to mkv, using a program such as makemkv is great and i can remove the extra audio tracks etc i dont want.

I'll research it some today and see how i get on.

looks like the mce.exe is the one to use. also can you try using MPC-HC as an external player to play the folder. see if that works.

Thanks guys ... keep the suggestions coming. I've used MPC-HC but it has no menu support. As for remuxing to mkv ... firstly i dont do it because I have TMT which DOES have folder support so surely its not unreasonable to expect that aspect to work from within MBT and secondly it takes a shed load of time to convert just the main title. Storage is the cheapest its been these days so i see no reason to stripdown blurays to the basics. Much prefer full menu support these days. If MBT cant support this i'll need to try some other package.

ok so using MPC-HC as an external player through MBT it loads the blu-ray folders fine and plays them? i was just wondering if it works in MPC-HC we can narrow down what might be causing it.

I havent got TMT installed at the moment and i dont have any blu ray folders to test it on. there must be other people using MBT this was that can comment, or someone who has more knowledge of these things than me.

i have just found this quote from http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/2507-external-player-tmt56pdvd1213-help/

Enter following:

{PATH} /Play

I use the WMC plugin (uMCEPlayer6.exe) for TMT 6. The player loads instantly, is a seamless playback, and once you stop, you come back to MBT. You can use WMC plugin without running WMC, just make sure you change your preferences (such as audio output options, BD live options etc) once you load the uMCEPlayer6, as it does not carry the preferences from standalone player. This command works for standalone app as well. It works for TMT5 (both WMC and standalone).

Thanks.

Using the WMC plugin seems to do the trick for MBT. Folders appear to load ok. But what do i need to do to get my audio bitstreamed? Currently all i get is 2 channel PCM sound.

i think theres a setting in TMT to bitstream, you will need to run the MCE version of TMT do all the changes then close it. when it opens in MB3 it should keep the settings then. Its been a long time since i've used TMT and cant remember where exactly the bitstreaming settings are.

TMT is already set for hdmi output including bitstreaming if its passed across but i suppose i need to set something up in MB3 but where?

mmmm, in Media Browser theatre in settings (top right) theres an audio option which you can enable bitstreaming but i thought this only controls bitstreaming within mediabrowser. Any external program that is launched needs to have its own bitstreaming settings.

i could be wrong maybe someone can clarify it.

if you open mce.exe version of TMT without going through MBT does it bitstream successfully?

No bitstreaming is offerred up using the mce tmt6 exe just pcm. I have the standalone tmt6 set up to bitstream, works no problem so it must be mbt thats not setting things up quite correctly. Never mind, i just thought that maybe someone IS using TMT6 with MBT and would obviously want bitstreamed sound not just analogue. Will need to look elsewhere for a frontend. Thanks for your interest.
