FR: allow multiple instances of MBT for multiple screens independently

This might seem odd, and I'm not sure it would even work, but I'm thinking of wiring my house with HDMI in multiple rooms (initially the thought was to support cable in multiple rooms cheaply).

I'm wondering if I have a PC with multiple HDMI ports, could MBT have say 2 instance - 1 would play to one HDMI out screen, and another to the other HDMI out the would run to another room?

They would obviously have function independently and would need some sort of individual remote configuration (with RF remote, or web/WiFi or IR repeater or something similar that each MBT would listen to and not interfere with the other running version ).

Is this a good idea? Seems better than having another PC/android box in the other room?

Thoughts?

I think it would be better to run cat 6 and use Roku's or similar devices.  The setup would be far similar with far less possible complications.

Yes, but in theory, my PC graphics card can probably create better picture quality. I know the alternative is to get another 'extender' of some description, but given I'm likely running HDMI anyway...

i have seen something similar done before, you can run each instance in a sandbox type environment. but you will run into difficulty if you restart your machine, i dont think they will automatically open up and be on the correct screen. the easiest option is a roku or a intel NUC.

or if your on a budget and you live in the UK the Now TV (rebranded roku) can be had for £10 delivered. i run 2 of these in my house one in my bedroom the other in the bathroom. then main HTPC down stairs and another mini itx pc in my cinema room. I think i will give a intel NUC a go when i have some spare cash.
