Assmonkey 1 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 HI, I'm trying to get 4K movies going on Emby but no matter what resolution or bitrate I select in the webapp, the stream freezes every few seconds, I've checked the system resources and nothing seems to be pushing the server even close to its limits. I'm running the latest (stable) version on FreeBSD (well FreeNAS jail). Any idea what's causing this? I have no issues with 1080p Blu-Rays regardless of the bitrate. 1
Luke 42077 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 hi there, can we take a look at an example? please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
Assmonkey 1 Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) Here you go. Tried with different bitrates and resolutions so there were quite a few transcode logs so I zipped 'em. EDIT: In case it matters I've tried with both Firefox and Chrome. logs.zip Edited January 1, 2018 by Assmonkey
Luke 42077 Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Hi, from what i can see your transcoding is just not happening fast enough for this to be playable. As a test, can you try turning off subtitles? Removing the subtitle burn in will reduce the load, whether that will be enough or not I'm not sure. Thanks.
Assmonkey 1 Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 Disabling the subtitles reduced the buffering quite a bit but the movies are still unwatchable. Thanks for deciphering the logs! I'm pretty sure the harddrive (SSD) and RAM (32GiB) are enough but the CPU might be the bottle neck after all. Any idea what the hardware requirements for transcoding a 4K movie are?
