landofthelost 0 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 On Ubuntu 16.04 lts, running in an LXC. I have my libraries setup with real time monitoring enabled, but no files are added to my library without a scan. Scan works fine to add files, but no files are updated in the "latest" category. I get the following error in my logs: : 2018-01-01 04:14:37.473 Error LibraryMonitor: Error in Directory watcher for: /xx/xxx/xxxx ** Error Report *** Version: 3.2.60.6 Command line: /opt/emby-server/system/EmbyServer.dll -programdata /var/lib/emby -ffmpeg /opt/emby-server/bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /opt/emby-server/bin/ffprobe -updatepackage emby-server-deb_{version}_amd64.deb Operating system: Unix 4.10.17.3 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Processor count: 4 Program data path: /var/lib/emby Application directory: /opt/emby-server/system System.IO.IOException: The configured user limit (8192) on the number of inotify watches has been reached. Luke 42078 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 hi, @@landofthelost, welcome. Can you please attach the complete emby server log? thanks !
landofthelost 0 Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 Hi Luke. I've PM'ed you the log.
Luke 42078 Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Hi, if you remove the kodi sync plugin, that will reduce file system access and that will decrease the likelihood of this happening. And/or you can also raise the inotify watcher limit on your system: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/13751/kernel-inotify-watch-limit-reached Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
landofthelost 0 Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 Thanks Luke. The kodi plugin is my main motivation for using Emby, but I'll look into raising the Inotify wactcher limit. I appreciate you looking into it.
landofthelost 0 Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 Unfortunately this didn't resolve the issue, on the emby server itself or for the Kodi sync. I updated the inotifiy total to 40960 initially, but after adding a few shows/movies found no change, so I upped it the max of 524288 as the article lists and increased the ram in the server. Still no change. I then rebuilt a new server as a virtual machine with the same OS, as LXC can have odd limitations at times. I restored the setting with the backup emby plugin, but am getting the same results. "Latest" is never updated for Tv shows, even after a media libary scan. Movies will update, but only after a scan. If I drill down into the menus when I know a Tv show has been added and after a scan, I can find it fully indexed. It just never updates as new, and never on its own.
Luke 42078 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 What you can always do is just disable the realtime monitor for certain libraries.
