Boxed playback

I'm not really sure what forum this belongs in. 

 

I've got some DVD's i've ripped and when i play them in Emby i have a black box all around the image. On previous versions of Emby i had the option to zoom, but i no longer have that option. Should i be ripping these DVD's another way? I'm currently using AnyDVD and MakeMKV

Yeah that's probably the issue. It doesnt matter what i play it with, i get the same results. Fire TV, Web, Windows Desktop app

You can reencode those in handbrake to strip off the bars.  Most such content I've seen is insanely low res, non-anamorphic prints though so I've made a special point of replacing those with blu-rays.

Our android mobile app has a zoom setting. We would like to get this into more apps but it just takes time. As also suggested you can remove the embedded black bars by re-encoding.
