Guest asrequested Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) I would highly recommend replacing the three switches at the entertainment center. Either of the switches you linked, should work fine for you. But I'd suggest the Netgear, it supports jumbo packets. Edited January 1, 2018 by Doofus

It does not work very well in my set up....... arggggg. But don't laugh, here is a pic of my switches and the wiring mess...... Yeah, I know it is a disaster, but I am constantly moving things around.

Ethernet switches.jpg That is neat and orderly by comparison to my "wiring closet" i have downstairs. I keep saying i am going to put some cable management into practice on it but that has yet to happen. I at least should buy a few different color wires having everything using the same color is just annoying when something goes wrong.

Ethernet switches.jpg lol...Mine used to look like that. As my component count, grew, I moved it all to a rack.
Tur0k 148 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 (edited) That's it, I need to clean my network shelf up. My shelf has been disheveled since I got my new switch up and running and couldn't adapt a mount to fit under the existing shelf (safely enough not to worry about a $300 managed POE switch falling). I was holding out for a used 24U full depth server rack but this will do just fine. I am buying: 2 x 2U 14" rack shelfs https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F262826482419 1 x 9U enclosed network rack (17" depth) https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F352229092242 Then I will put my mini PC firewall, cable modem, 4 bay, 1U 24 port POE switch, 1U patch panel, 2 RPI 3s (unifi controller, and home automation controller), a 3 tuner HD HOMERUN prime and possibly a netgear 4 Bay NAS in it.
