Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) Can't remember if collections use to honor topparentid or not, it has been awhile. Edited August 31, 2017 by Happy2Play
Guest asrequested Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 There's just one collections library. So what you want is to be able create your own collections, as individual libraries?
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 @ What i want is that if i am in Library A and click on collections - i see only collections for Library A - NOT mixed in with collections from Library B,C and...... If its all one "library of collections" then "Collections" should also be on the Home page along side favourites etc - Dont like this idea - would prefer separate "Collection Libraries" - or a switch/option to combine like you have for combining movie/TV libraries as one @@Happy2Play Cant remember either if it did before or not - as only recently been adding collections to different Movie libraries and noticed that they are combined.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Well there is a Collections View that can be added to My Media (Homescreen) that I would think should have this consolidated Collections view. But agree per-library should only contain collections that reside in that library.
Guest asrequested Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Yeah, for those who have genre libraries, I would think that would be a good option.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Ah yes forgot about that option - but effectively you have this now in any movie library 1
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 @@Happy2Play - as we have decided that this is not how it works and its not really a bug could you move this thread to the Feature Request forum please?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 As a test I rolled back to a previous server version and ParentId's where honored so this would fall under the same issues of legacy collections breaking in new build. @@Luke
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Ah ok - how far back did you have to go?
ebr 16184 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 The server-based collections have always been global. This is because there are no restrictions on what you can put in a collection so they could have items that span multiple libraries. That means the collection itself belongs to no library.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Thats not what Happy just tested Having all collections together is a very odd way to do it
Nick's MCE 59 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Not sure if I am in the right post but you seem to be talking about 2 issues which I am also having. Firstly after the last build all my legacy collections have vanished, what the!!!. I ended up uninstalling the server and re-installing but no joy, all gone. Secondly I had my collections split into kids and adults. If I clicked on collections it would combine both libraries, really annoying!!. Thats not what Happy just tested Having all collections together is a very odd way to do it It is the logical way, especially as a fanart artist making artwork for collections, cant begin to explain how impractical the new setup is for us.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Sorry, had to add more the one collection per library on my test machine to see them merged.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Ok so it has never done this - is that what you are saying Happy?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Right and if you think about it is make a little since. The collections exist outside the libraries. (\Emby-Server\data\collections) But there should be a way to keep them in their libraries. Moving to Feature Request.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Ok folks if you like the idea please like the first post
ebr 16184 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Right and if you think about it is make a little since. The collections exist outside the libraries. (\Emby-Server\data\collections) But there should be a way to keep them in their libraries. Moving to Feature Request. But that's the thing - a collection doesn't belong to a single library. It can contain items from any number of libraries. Are you saying you want us to restrict the items of a collection to only being in a single library?
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted August 31, 2017 Author Posted August 31, 2017 Yes existing outside libraries is the easy option or was never thought about - which is very do-able as each library has a parent id - so use that - put it in the collection xml file If you have gone to the trouble of splitting out libraries i think your are unlikely to then create a collection of items across libraries - and even if you did just use the first video added as the owning library for the cross collection er.. collection if that puts it in the wrong library for your setup - just change the library id Or possibly add the option to add more than one id so the odd collection could appear in two collections Not difficult to do or program There are probably other ways to do it - have not checked the DB structure
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 But that's the thing - a collection doesn't belong to a single library. It can contain items from any number of libraries. Are you saying you want us to restrict the items of a collection to only being in a single library? It comes down to how people have there libraries setup. I have separate Kids movies and Movies libraries structured way before Emby. So tmdbid colledtions should reside only in the library they are present in. As for custom collections that would be a debate. 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) This issue was resolved for Genre when it has the same issue. Edited August 31, 2017 by Happy2Play 1
Nick's MCE 59 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 I have had movie folders structured separately forever as below, The combining of collections from Sets & Kids Sets has been there since the launch of Theater. This didn't bother me because I would access my collections directly through each folder and not through the collections Tab. At the moment I cant see any collections or even the movies in the collections due to the last build Can anyone tell me where to get the last build so I can roll back. Movies Sets Kids Movies TV Kids Movies Kids Sets Kids TV Home Movies
moviefan 187 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) 3.2.28 fixes the issue. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/releases Edited September 3, 2017 by moviefan
Mohamed Selim 24 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 I Have multiple libraries for movies (idian, english arabic etc) when i choose a library to choose from its collections i see that the collections are mixed with other libraries (so if i choose for example library indian movies i see the collections of english movies libray and arabic movies library and all collections of all libraries) so it misses the point of separate libraries I think the expected behaviour is when i select a library to see its collections only not mixed with other libraries I use the old boxset collections method Please fix Thanks alot
Mohamed Selim 24 Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Please could anybody understand my problem or reply to me Thanks alot
