Knono 0 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) So, after updating my server, ffmpeg spikes my cpu usage to 100%, which hadn't happened before for me. I looked up old posts regarding it, and didn't seem to find any definitive fix , aside from enabling throttling, but that was already enabled on my end, and didn't help. While gaming, when it spikes like that, it makes my game almost unplayable, so I'm really hoping to find a solution to this. Thanks in advance for any help Log.txt FFMPEG Log .txt Edited December 29, 2017 by Knono

Knono 0 Posted December 29, 2017 Author Posted December 29, 2017 Alright, also attached to first post
Luke 42079 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Hi, in some situations it's normal for ffmpeg to consume a lot of CPU, especially one such as this where it's doing a full transcode. You can try playing with the server transcoding settings such as thread count. That may reduce cpu consumption but may also affect your playback experience. The other thing you may want to do is pay attention to the type of content that's being played during peak hours when you need resources for gaming. In this case it is transcoding HEVC video. Perhaps if you limit your viewing to H264 video during that time period, ffmpeg might not be used at all. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
