cappa.dot 1 Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Can anyone help. I have recently purchased a 3900EU Roku to access my server on my DS416Play. Everything seems to be working except the poster art on the movie/tv profiles constantly flashes as if it keep refreshing. I'll hopefully include a video attached.
ebr 16169 Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Hi. No need for a video. Can you please attach a server log from when this is happening? Thanks.
cappa.dot 1 Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 Find attached the TXT log, thank you Emby Roku.txt
ebr 16169 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Hi. Can you tell me how big these images are? Also, what resolution is your Roku set to? 2017-12-28 08:52:43.039 Info HttpResultFactory: Transmit file /volume1/video/# TV Shows/Ray Donovan (2013)/landscape.jpg 2017-12-28 08:52:43.048 Info HttpResultFactory: Transmit file /volume1/video/# TV Shows/Elementary/landscape.jpg
cappa.dot 1 Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 The resolution is set to 1080p which is correct and the images are what Emby downloads itself. Usually 1080p but some are 2160p.
cappa.dot 1 Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 This is what happens when trying to load up the fanart https://www.dropbox.com/s/d20rrsi0v3mrpw8/Video%2027-12-2017%2C%208%2022%2003%20am.mov?dl=0
ruslanb1 0 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Hi, I have the same issue with my Roku3 and my parents Roku TV. I think I started seeing it over 3 month ago. My Roku resolution set to 1080 and all images are downloaded by Emby. Please keep me in the loop for the fix. Thank you, Ruslan
thatoneguy 0 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Same issue here as well on Roku, except mine is way worse than the example video. I get this trace spewed throughout the logs: 2017-12-28 10:07:52.570 Info ImageProcessor: Creating image collage and saving to /config/cache/temp/745da3f70fd94eabacc526391be1ba73.png 2017-12-28 thatoneguy 0 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 We're looking into it, thanks. Awesome, appriciate it! If you need more information please let me know.
cappa.dot 1 Posted December 31, 2017 Author Posted December 31, 2017 Thank you for looking into this for us. Really don't want to move over to Plex on the roku.
Stokkes 9 Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Exact same behaviour here on my Roku sticks. Driving my wife bananas. Feels like I'm having a seizure every time I load the app
jeflatt 6 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 I know it's being looked into, but I thought I would mention that it seems to be across the board. I have a Roku express and am having the same issue.
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Can you guys try the latest beta version (.59) and see if this goes away? Thanks.
cappa.dot 1 Posted January 8, 2018 Author Posted January 8, 2018 Just tried .59 and it has solved the problem. Thank you
jeflatt 6 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I've installed .59 also, and it has stopped the constant flickering. Not to sound ungrateful, or disappointed, but I will state an observation. When the artwork changes from one picture to another, there is a flicker. It just happens the one time during transition though, but every image (backdrop, chapter scenes, actor images) flickers during this transition. So it is stable once it completes its transition, but it seems to "struggle" with a transition and refreshes every image on the screen through an awkward cycle. 1
ebr 16169 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 When the artwork changes from one picture to another, Exactly what are you talking about here and where? Thanks.
jeflatt 6 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I'm referring to the backdrop images; the wallpaper that is in the background of the movie information screen. (You'll forgive my non-technical descriptions, I'm a mechanical engineer not software ) I don't see any flickering when I'm in the main menu, only when I am looking at the screen for a particular movie. There are typically 4 backdrop images for a given movie, and these images are changed at regular intervals.

I'm afraid some of these Roku devices simply cannot handle large amounts of large images.
JXL2112 7 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I have a Roku SE and I get the artwork flickering with both the stable release .54 and the beta .64, the audio plays fine but the Roku will eventually lockup and become unresponsive. The PLEX app works fine though so I don't think it's the Roku itself. I'll upload a log file shortly.

I tried a different model Roku and the emby app works fine so maybe the app is too much for the Roku SE.
ebr 16169 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 On your lower powered device, try turning off the option to show backdrops while browsing.
syralk 13 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I did that and it work great but when i"m in the TV Shows section (example I lick on Big Bang Theory) the backdrop flicker It will be great to be able to disable the backdrop everywhere. I have the Roku express 3900ca Thanks On your lower powered device, try turning off the option to show backdrops while browsing.
