ET start-up issue

Hi, I'm an old school MB user who is trying to make the switch to ET. I have set up ET to launch on start-up but when it does, the controls will not respond until I click a mouse button anywhere on the main screen.

Any help would be appreciated:)

hi, could it be that something else is taking focus after ET launches?

I can't see anything else and ET is full screen and on top. It just has nothing highlighted so I cannot navigate with my controller or keyboard

As a test, if you double click the window to toggle fullscreen, does that change anything? thanks.

I double click and it makes it smaller by around 50% and I can use my controller from there. But I dont want to have to click with my mouse every time I start the system, I want my controller to work on start up.

I cant even make that launch on start up

Hi Luke and @@docmagic I'm getting the same issue, the remote controls will not respond until I click a mouse button anywhere on the ET main screen.   I just recently re-imaged my machine with Windows 10, Emby Server and Emby Theater.   ET launches at start up, goes to full screen, but not controls work on the remote until I click a mouse button anywhere on the ET main screen.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?   Is there a config to force ET to be the active window?

Sounds like something else is taking focus but the next release of the app I think will resolve this. Thanks.

Hi Luke, yes it's weird, there is something but its difficult troubleshoot what it is.  With the issue after ET launches to full screen and I wait to see, and listen,  for something to occur in the background that would give me a clue as to what is stopping ET from being the active window.

Great news there is a fix coming in the next release. Any clue as to when the next release is scheduled for?

Further to my post above, I did some digging around on the net to find a way to prevent a program from stealing the active window.  I found the following article: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-prevent-programs-from-stealing-focus-in-windows-2624453 which recommended running a cmd line tool called Windows Focus Logger to detect the problem.

I created a little batch file to run the cmd line tool.   The output recorded the following:

Focus changed;21/02/2018 21:09:47;Name:;Processname:electron;Offscreen:False;KeyboardFocus:True;UIenabled:True

Now this is where its gets beyond me.  From the website of the tool it mentions that the logs will...... "It tells you if the active window is offscreen and has keyboard focus" which I've highlighted above in Bold.  I assume I need ET to launch and be Offscreen:True;KeyboardFocus;False. Is that how the community understand it also?  Or do I just need to worry about getting the keyboard to be KeyboardFocus;False?

If the assumption is correct....now for the golden drop of wisdom.... how do I get ET to launch and be KeyboardFocus;False?  Any ideas would be much appreciated.

The current version of the app has two windows which makes this more complicated. The next update will clean this up so it might not be an issue anymore.
