Multi-Version Movies (small bug?)

Very cool feature (and One I'll probably have to utilize by reripping a bunch of different movies!  lol), but I've noticed an issue with it... or maybe I'm doing something wrong.  The problem is Emby is showing the versions as the filename instead of the bit following the " - ".

For Example, I have:

/Alien (1979)/Alien (1979) - Theatrical.mkv

/Alien (1979)/Alien (1979) - Director's Cut.mkv

Emby is showing the versions as, "Alien (1979) - Theatrical.mkv" and "Alien (1979) - Director's Cut.mkv", instead of just "Theatrical" and "Director's Cut".

Not a huge deal for me or anything, just something I noticed. :)

I think it makes some sense to keep the entire filename, especially since some people may use multi-version support for things that only play directly on certain hardware (like Apple's aversion to supporting mkv containers, or resolution/audio restrictions on other devices).  It would probably look weird to have just "Theatrical.mkv" in there, so the entire filename would be more "descriptive" in that way.  More parsing may look nicer IMO, though, such that it lists it as "Theatrical (mkv)" or some such arrangement, but it's really more about taste at that point.

I would love some way to denote which version is the "default", but that's a whole other matter.  I also have the Alien movies and see the same exact thing, so I knew exactly where you were going with that  :P

Personally i think displaying the "movie name (year)" part is a bit redundant. I really hope that eventually what is displayed is what is after the "-"

Alien (1979) - director's cut.mkv

Alien (1979) - theatrical cut.mkv

Alien (1979) - potato flakes

Would simply read

- director's cut.mkv

- theatrical cut.mkv

- potato flakes

We'll adjust the display in a future update. Thanks.

Same.  I don't even think it should show the file extension.  If you want to know that, just add it as part of the " - " tag.  for example:  Theatrical (mkv).  All my files are MKV, so it's a bit redundant. :-)

As for Apple, it's the same thing as above. If you want the whole filename (or whatever) add it after the dash. It has no effect on the actual file and it's playback.

Quite right actually... Extension is pointless as well... My mistake...
