gijoeyl35 0 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I need to some help making sure my settings are correct. I have a 5354 model zoom router and cannot access emby remotely. This is what I currently have in the port forwarding section. What I am doing wrong? Local IP: 192.168.10.20 (IP of the computer with the server installed) Local Start Port: 8096 Local End Port: 8096 External IP address: 71.71.200.125 (Address shown as remote address inside emby) External start port: 8096 External end port: 8096 Protocol: Both Enabled: On Help!
Luke 42077 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 That looks OK to me. I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter. Please try the steps listed there and let us know exactly which ones succeed and which ones do not. Thanks !
mastrmind11 722 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Check http://canyouseeme.org/ I port scanned your IP address above for 8096 and it's reported as closed. Double check from your end.
gijoeyl35 0 Posted December 23, 2017 Author Posted December 23, 2017 I get the same thing. I don't know what else to look at. How should I double check?
Luke 42077 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I get the same thing. I don't know what else to look at. How should I double check? Hi there, can you please tell us the results of my question in post #2? thanks.
mastrmind11 722 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Yeah, I'd follow @@Luke's troubleshooter first. THere are several things we can try depending on the result of that.
gijoeyl35 0 Posted December 23, 2017 Author Posted December 23, 2017 Troubleshooting steps netted nothing new. The port doesn't appear open...even though I believe it is. Internally things work fine. Externally I've got nothing.
Guest asrequested Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Do you have a software firewall installed? Or sometimes some routers need to be rebooted.

Maybe tryed to reboot after setting changed in the router? Another thing you maybe can try is in your zoom under advanced to uncheck wan blocking.
mastrmind11 722 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Some ISP's block foreigh ports. Not knowing your ISP I can only speculate, but maybe try mapping a standard port externally to your internal 8096? Like 22 or 443, just as a test. If that works, then I'd recommend setting up a reverse proxy listening on 443 that redirects to 8096 internally. If 443 works w/o a proxy, DO NOT just leave it like that, you need to set up a proxy.
gijoeyl35 0 Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 I have restarted the router...check that WAN is not disabled....I still have nothing...someone help!!!
gijoeyl35 0 Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 I also have turned off the Windows Defender Firewall on the server machine....still nothing!!!
Tur0k 148 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) Ok, confirm that windows firewall is completely off for all network zones. What do you use for anti-virus? Does it include a software firewall as well? Looks like you are on time warner. I don't think they are explicitly blocking 8096 though web searching indicates they may block email server transmission ports in residential networks. The zoom 5354 is a modem/home router and should support port forwarding. Can you take screenshots? Also, do you have any other network equipment between the zoom modem/router and your Emby server? gijoeyl35 0 Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 Here are some relevant screen shots. I do have a Ubiquiti Wifi access point in the house. But the computer with the emby server software is hooked up with a wire directly to the zoom modem. What else should I be looking at?
xilex 9 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Try removing the external IP address. I've never had to configure that in any prior router when doing basic port forwarding. (see http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2889389/external-port-forwarding-page.html) Also, you can enable UPnP on last page and not have to worry about setting up port forwarding yourself. Then reenable Windows Firewall and router firewalls once you see everything is working. 1

Interesting router, I notice there is a NAT ALG on it. I dont know if emby would trigger any of them for protection but for testing purposes i would disable all of them. Are there any other routers or anything acting like a router in your network between the emby server and your ISP? For example I have a ooma phone which acts like a router so its server ---> buffalo router --> ooma router / voip --->isp. I had to log into the ooma device to see the correct external IP address to use. Edited December 27, 2017 by tdiguy
gijoeyl35 0 Posted December 31, 2017 Author Posted December 31, 2017 Well I have tried pretty much everything. It just simply will not work. So frustrating. Is anyone interested in remoting in and trying to get this to work? I will compensate for success.
