Emby App closing after some time of inactivity

Hello,

I've been struggling lately with the issue, that when I watched some series and paused the series or I am in the main view of the Emby app (in the libraries for example) the Emby App is closing itself after some time. I can't exactly say how long the time until this happens is - however the main problem with this is, that after it closes itself down, the Emby app is unable to contact my Emby server. In order to make it work again, I either have to force close the application and clear the cache or to completly restart the device itself.

Sometimes its not even enough to force close the application and clear the cache - then i need to restart the device to get it working again.

I couldn't find an option to "force" Emby to stay alive infinite.

Is this some sort of issue or is this working like that by design?

Thanks alot.

Exactly how did you do that?

Using adb shell settings put secure sleep_timeout 0

This disables the sleeptime on the FíreTV. After 20 Minutes the screensaver jumps in and runs forever, until I either turn of the TV or do an interaction with the FireTV

Okay, yeah, I didn't think that was a supported option on the Fire.

Due to the fact that the Fire does sleep after just 20 minutes and a normal user cannot turn this off, our app will shut itself down after about 18 minutes.

However, this should not be causing the issues you describe.  In fact, this is designed expressly to avoid those issues.

Can you tell me a little more about your routine?  Are you actually pausing a video and then walking away for a long time?

This is exactly what I do, yes

Okay, I'll have to test that scenario to make sure the app remains stable.

Can I ask why you do this?  Why not back out of the video?

Im working pretty often from home office, so Im watching series while working (more like listening to them). When a call comes in I quickly pause the video and return to it when the phone call is finished. Sometimes this can take two hours or more - until this point the Emby app already crashed.

Sure, I could return to the "main screen" of Emby - however im always watching my series shuffled, so I can't simply return to episode I was just watching as then it wouldn't be shuffled any more.

For me really the simplest and straight forward way is to pause the video.

Thanks for taking care of that.

I'm afraid my solution won't help you in that situation either as we will be forced to shut the app down which will also lose your shuffle queue.

You could create a playlist though so that it would be persistent.

Aww, too bad. I guess then im out of luck.
