wp.rauchholz 5 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Is there a way to force SSL connections only and disable the 8096 port? Blank is not a valid entry. Wolfgang
Luke 42078 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Hi there, have you explored the advanced hosting settings related to SSL?
Tur0k 148 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 (edited) In windows you could disable the inbound rule for port 8096. Verify that you have an ssl certificate loaded in Emby server and that SSL encrypted connections are working. In Linux I bet you could load Iptables and block inbound connections to port 8096. dcrdev 255 Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 I don't think blocking the port via firewall is a good idea, it will interfere with some of the apps when used internally because they will automatically default to unencrypted. For external connections, you can just use the "Require HTTPS for external connections" option under 'Expert >> Advanced' in emby. The only real way of semi-disabling http connections both internally and externally, is to set up a reverse proxy, have it redirect all http traffic and then block inbound connections on 8096/8920 via firewall. That way all connection are routed through the proxy and all requests are redirected to https.
