Best Audio

Hey ebr, 

 

Is it by design the Shield TV doesn't select the best audio track? I have two audio tracks on my TV shows. First track is AAC 2.0 and second track is AC3 6 channels. It always selects the first track. It is so annoying that I have to manually switch every time.

The first one. But I don't want Emby to pick the default track. I want it to determine which one is the best and supported track by my hardware and use it.

There really isn't any way for us to know what "best" is because we might select an alternate audio track.  That is why we key off the default because you can set that to what you wish.

 

However, once you have selected it for a video once, it will select that track again on subsequent playbacks.

I don't know how the AppleTV does it but it has an option to always select the best track and it always actually does chose the best track. I am tired of having to manually selecting. Even Plex and Kodi does the same thing.

It was checked. I just uncheck it and will see if it makes a difference when I get home. How about a setting that allows the user to pick which track to always be used.  Default can be selected by default.
