manf0001 4 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Hello, I am running Emby Server 3.2.50.0 and I'm having no issues. I have a friend who just moved and now she is unable to cast to her chromecast device. She can connect to my emby server fine on her computer or her Android app, and can play perfectly fine. But when she tries to cast, to her 2nd Gen Chromecast it, the TV will display the Emby logo, but when she tries to play anything, it will just show a spinning wheel. I've tried doing a factory reset of the chromecast, No help We can cast Youtube to the device fine. I even tried it at my place, (but I think it only works, because it's internal to my server. I am going to try it at a completely different location. I have other friends who use the same Chromecast and they can cast fine. Any suggestions that I might look into? Thanks
Luke 42080 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 hi @@manf0001, when those devices connect to emby server, what server address are they using? it sounds like although the device can connect to your chromecast, the chromecast cannot reach your emby server. thanks.
manf0001 4 Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 Hi @@Luke, When off site it's being accessed via my External WAN address. Tonight or tomorrow I'll be testing this chromecast somewhere else.
Luke 42080 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Ok, please attach an emby server log, thanks.
manf0001 4 Posted December 23, 2017 Author Posted December 23, 2017 Hi @@Luke Sorry about the late response. So I did some more testing today. From my friend's account "Carrie" tried casting to her chromecast again after updating the server to 3.2.60, but still would not cast, it would keep spinning like it was trying to load. So I brought over my Nexus player and used the emby app (The emby app on the player was using the user Naideine) and it worked fine. So I tried to cast to the Nexus Player Casting from my phone (user Mike and again with user Carrie) but it still wouldn't cast. The Emby app on the phones work fine. All this testing was today December 23 2017, between 2:20ish and 2:40 PM. Thanks MikeEmbyLog.txt
Luke 42080 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 hi @@manf0001, due to the size of this log it's a little hard for me to differentiate between the working vs not working traffic. Would you mind restarting the server to clear out the log, repeating the test, and then immediately grabbing the log file? thanks !

She was able to play from her laptop but was unable to cast, just kept loading.. Log.txt Edited January 13, 2018 by manf0001
Luke 42080 Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Ok, there's no traffic from chromecast here. That tells me that although her laptop can connect to her chromecast device, her chromecast device cannot connect to your emby server. It looks like she's connecting to your emby server using a domain name. instead of doing that, have her try using the server's ip address.
