Lag-Ridden playback

Not sure if this is a server issue or an app issue. But when I try to play my high quality movies on the app (4K HEVC, usually about 50 GB) it always tries to transcode them, making playback lag and play at a noticeably lower quality even when choosing the highest quality in the app (which is only 100 mbs). When I use the Kodi add-on it plays without hitch. Is there a way to make the app not transcode these files? I searched through the settings and couldn't find a solution.

Here's the transcoding logs. Playback was a little more fluid this time but what I'd really like is it to not transcode it at all.

On what device are you attempting to play this?

Doesn't look like it supports 10-bit HEVC.  The stuttering is probably due to the content bitrate (41Mb/s) which will also be too high for, say, a Fire TV.

FireTV Gen2. The same file plays just fine using kodi, so the device is capable.

The Fire TV does not support hevc 10-bit.  Kodi has its own software decoding built into it that we don't have access to.

Strange that it's something that can't be ported over. Anyway thanks for the help!
