suprasaiyan123 3 Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Hello, After moving my library over to emby and my few months of usage I have been incredibly satisfied, one thing that is a bit disappointing however is how the emby server for windows seems to compress the beautiful backgrounds that I've collected for my media to the point that they're just filled with artifacts, it really makes browsing media worse than it could be... Is the compression a necessity? I didn't notice this with the other popular media server, hoping it's something that may be ironed out in the future, but its certainly not something that affects functionality. I'm on 3.2.36.0.
Luke 42085 Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Hi there, can you discuss an example? I would also suggest installing 3.2.50 from the website and seeing how that compares. thanks.

Hello Luke, thanks for the reply, unfortunately I'm getting an error with the new update Edited December 6, 2017 by suprasaiyan123
suprasaiyan123 3 Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 (edited) Sorry not sure how to post uncompressed and full res pics, but even when compressed there is a clear difference in clarity between the original pic and the backgrounds on my Emby server, even with the new update installed Edited December 6, 2017 by suprasaiyan123
Happy2Play 9784 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 You mean the background overlay? Here is custom css to remove/lighten it the web client. /*Background Image brightness*/ .backgroundContainer.withBackdrop { background: rgba(0, 0, 0, .2) !important; }
Luke 42085 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 That background doesn't look that bad to me. We put a dark overlay on top of it to ensure that text will be easy to read. Does that answer your question?
suprasaiyan123 3 Posted December 7, 2017 Author Posted December 7, 2017 it's not the overlay, all my backgrounds are compressed and pixelated
suprasaiyan123 3 Posted December 7, 2017 Author Posted December 7, 2017 (edited) I hope in the first pic above it's easier to see the compression artifacts and loss of detail as opposed to the original pic below Edited December 7, 2017 by suprasaiyan123
