GOTCHA_SA 8 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Hello I have upgraded to version 3.2.40 and am trying to create the service as per the instructions (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50992-how-to-run-emby-server-as-a-windows-service/ ) but keep getting a "Error 2: The System cannot find the file specified" I have configured the NSSM app. I have pointed to the System folder for my emby installation and entered the correct argument as instructed is there something i am missing? using server 2012 R2 for the hosting. any help on this
Luke 42080 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Hi, you wouldn't point it to the system folder but rather the EmbyServer.exe file inside the system folder. please let us know if this helps. thanks.
GOTCHA_SA 8 Posted December 5, 2017 Author Posted December 5, 2017 Hi, I have pointed it as per the below: Path: "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.exe" Startup Directory: "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system" Arguments: -service
Luke 42080 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 and where exactly do you get that error? can you show a screenshot of it? thanks. 1
GOTCHA_SA 8 Posted December 5, 2017 Author Posted December 5, 2017 In Command prompt: and also from the services.msc
Luke 42080 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I'm not quite sure what the issue is. @@Happy2Play have you seen this with nssm?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I would double check the exact install path to ensure everything is correct. I have seen that error before but it was because I had deleted the test install that service was pointed to.

Solution dreadwolf2k 2 Posted December 6, 2017 Solution Posted December 6, 2017 Ok looking at another post I solved my issue https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/53171-install-emby-as-a-service/?hl=%2Bemby+%2Bservice I had to use the 64bit version of nssm.exe (I thought since it was system32 directory that I was supposed to use the 32 bit version) When I copied the 64bit version of mssm to system32 and reinstalled the service it started without issue. 2

You absolute beauty, didn't even think of that. it worked a treat. thanks a lot!!!!
Blob 7 Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Just for info.. Had the old imbedded Emby windows service, but stopped working above 3.2.36. It would not start "TimeOut" I had to do "sc delete emby" in an admin cmd. and switch to the new nssm method. Best of luck.
