Overlay controls disappeared

I left Theater windowed and in the background, while I was working on something else. When I came back to it play something else, the user icon etc. won't come up

Moving the mouse cursor over that area, it did react as though they were there. I should have tried clicking, but didn't think about that at the time. So maybe it's just the images that are not presenting?

I used to always see the same when a skin was applied.
