lanos 4 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Hi everyone, So i had a big windows problem over thanksgiving weekend trying to update to windows 10 (finally), and long story short I wound up having to do a fresh install and start from scratch. I know sounds fun, right? so now I'm tring to get all my media stuff back up and running and emby server is giving me problems with the initial library scan. It hits about 70% and just stays there. I once let it go for almost 30 hours and nothing. Ive removed all plugins except auto organize and trakt and even cleared out all boxset/collections like I've seen suggested in other threads and still stuck at 70%.Log attached any help would be much appreciated. server-63647580984.txt
Luke 42078 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Hi there, this log does not contain a library scan. can you please run a scan and try again? thanks.
lanos 4 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks for the quick reply thats weird it was running a scan when i attached it. anyway I just restarted the server started a new scan and it went straight to 70.6% and stopped again so heres that log.... i hope? server-63647826620.txt
lanos 4 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 and heres the previous I found How i sent the wrong one first time server-63647819069.txt
Luke 42078 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 It looks like it is running normally. I would suggest just being patient and allowing it to finish. In addition, it appears you might have enabled some settings that are turned off by default, in particular downloading images in advance. Turn that off to get a faster library scan. I don't think anything is stuck. I think it is just taking a little longer than your liking and you're falling into the trap of thinking that it's stuck.
lanos 4 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks. Guess i'll just wait some more. but does 30+ hours on the same percentage seem normal? Thats how long I first let it run on tuesday before i began restarting and deleting plugins and suchalso the images in advance is all turned off, just checked.
Luke 42078 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Also, is this a mapped network drive? L:\TV\yu yu hakusho

Try removing auto-organize so that strip that activity from the log and make it a little easier to follow, thanks.
lanos 4 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Also, is this a mapped network drive? L:\TV\yu yu hakusho nope no network drives everything attached to PC
lanos 4 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Also, is this a mapped network drive? L:\TV\yu yu hakusho Might've figured it out, I just checked that folders properties looks like the old OS still had control, I had to adjust the security settings to give the new OS privleges to it. Guess I got to go through all my folders and make sure I have privleges to everything. well there goes my weekend I'll reply back if that fixes anything or not
lanos 4 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 is that a mapped network drive? no, no mapped networks, all hdd atached to the pc with the server. i just think its because its a new windows install and some folders seem to only have priveleges for the old windows install?
Luke 42078 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Maybe. I just noticed some connection failures in the log relating to an L: drive.
lanos 4 Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 So, 22 hours later still at 70.6%. Haven't touched the serve since yesterday... I deleted all plugins and took ownership of all files and folders especially on the L: driveI'm lost what to do next most recent log atached server-63647856000.txt
Guest asrequested Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) Here's what I did. Add one library at a time, with download artwork disabled. Wait for the scan to complete before adding another. Once all libraries are added, re-enable download artwork, one library at a time. Each time you re-enable downloading artwork, run a scan only on that library. Edited December 3, 2017 by Doofus

Thanks for the advice it didnt fix the problem but helped me narrow down the problem I think I added each folder in my libary one at a timewith no pictures (which i shouldnt need anyway all my picures are still in the folders from old O.S.) and all my movie and TV folders scanned no problem longest a folder took was an hour and a half Then came music and thats where the trouble starts the scan started and jumped right to 70.6% again and has sat there for 8 hours. I have 250 gigs of music but in 8 hours its only displaying about 20 albums if I browse the library. I checked the log and it seems to saving A TON of pictures to the emby folder in my AppData folder but I have it set to not get images so I don't know why its saving any images anywhere. Anyone Know how to completly disable image grabs? Its been a week and I just want to be done with this lol server-63647954235.txt Edited December 4, 2017 by lanos
Guest asrequested Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 I've got about 13000 songs, and mine took about 10 minutes to get through, with all the options in library set up, disabled. Did you disable everything, or just that one option?
lanos 4 Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 every thing that involed images and new metadata I just wanted to pull the media into the library all images and meta is already in the folders from the last setup
Guest asrequested Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 So maybe it's something that you left enabled? Try disabling everything and run a scan on that library, only. I'm having a vague recollection of having a file(s) that the scan got stuck on, in the past. Maybe take a look at where the scan gets stuck. Maybe you have something it doesn't like.
mastrmind11 722 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 try the same thing w/ your music... create a test library w/ a few aldums, see what happens. 99.9% of the time people report missing albums, etc it's because the scan hasn't completed.
Luke 42078 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 did you explore the server metadata settings to disable the image extractor for songs?
Guest asrequested Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 did you explore the server metadata settings to disable the image extractor for songs? That one threw me off. First, I can't find that, and second, why would there be an image extractor for something that has no image/video?
Guest asrequested Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) songs can have embedded images. Ah yes, so they can. I still can't find an image extractor setting. All I see is image fetchers, and nothing for music. I'd like to know where that is. EDIT: I see it. Edited December 5, 2017 by Doofus
