Library folder - deletion

Recommended Posts

Hi

This is an annoying bug in emby server 3.2.36 ( I think its been there for a while)

when you have 20 TV folders as I do

Managing folders

you select the "-" button for one near the top

It does not delete that folder but rather the 2nd from the bottom

UNC paths of the form \\server\share\folder

So to manage any folders I need to delete them all and then re-add them

It would be nice to edit the folder as well

It allows you to select it and it opens an uneditable window

thanks

deletes wrong folder !!!

1) edit settings

2) select librrary

3) select tv library (my case)

4)manage library

5) up comes list of 20 folders

6) select "-" symbol to right of folder name

     - deletes folder at bottom not the one you selected to be deleted

would be nice

try to edit (not an option)

after 1-5 above

6) select folder name

7) folder window opens - with name only not editable

   - nice to edit/change if moved etc

8) can add - optional shared folder path

thanks

you know that you can click the 3-dot menu -> rename, right?

this will allow you to rename a library.

@@hd4fun you can already add/edit these. click on a library which brings up the list of folders, then click on one of the folders. does this help?

@@hd4fun, there is no editing folders. you just add and remove on the previous screen if that's what you want to do. why do you consider this a problem? isn't add & remove easy enough?

the optional network path is what you can edit.

And if you see my first comment

a person needs to delete all of the folders and then re-add them if the storage structure changes

as mentioned above

4)manage library

5) up comes list of 20 folders

6) select "-" symbol to right of folder name

     - deletes folder at bottom not the one you selected to be deleted

I've got 80TB so it's a pain when I have to reorg

yea i get it, but this isn't something you're going to be doing every day.

Word... Why when you remove folder X does it remove the wrong damn folder?!! So annoying.

This problem irritates me too. I had to recently make some changes and because of this flaw I had to rebuild the entire library and remove all folders in the TV section. This section has 8 or so different locations so it was a chore.

@@Luke Now it is true, this isn't something you are going to be doing every day. But why does it not properly delete the folder it is expected to? Why is something so simple not working as designed? It makes it look like "amateur hour" and some "sloppy coding" to the end user. It really detracts from the value of emby. Please see fit to correct this issue, and not simply dismiss it with a trite reply. Thanks bunches. :)

With a new install of the server i don't think that will ever happen. I think there is a data-related issue with older server installations so that's why i haven't tracked it down yet. Thanks.

It is hair-pull inducing, Then you try again to remove the right folder and it removes the wrong one again. Then you realize, like you said, you have to remove all, then add all back. It just seems like something was overlooked and the software was at fault. If a new install solves it, then thats half the battle solved right there. If you could find the real root cause on older installs it would be a huge plus. The older installs are people that have supported emby since the beginning. No disrespect meant if any was implied, none was intentional. Happy faces come from software that makes people happy. Emby makes me happy. :) :) :) *insert more happy faces as you deem necessary*

Thanks for the kind words.
