FalsePhoenix 0 Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Hi, i was trying to test my server outside of network, after some work i got the port open, great! so it should work right..... well... I tried it via my phones browser, nothing,i tried it through my schools browser, nothing. I then tried it via my mobile date (phone) via the emby app, and huzza. it connects. BUUUUUT, it wont connect via the app in browser on my school pc (at school)... i hope that make sense. Now my question is does the reviving end, school pc need port 8096 open or would it be some kind of blockage, Most likely it is, but then why does it not work in my phone browser on mobile data..... it seems very confusing muddled as to when and where it works.
demotic 0 Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I would guess maybe it's a firewall issue of some kind on your schools pc. The receiving client doesn't need to have a port open.

Your school likely limits what content you have access to, which explains why it won't work on a school browser. If your phone is on your school's wifi, that it explains why your phone won't work, and also explains why you can access it via the cell network.

Yes, i imagine it probably would be although all emby pages do work they have a pretty good system, its hard to get through most of the time. My main quandary was why it does not work via mobile data ( I am not on school wifi, dont have any pupil wifi) via the browser but does work via the app.
Luke 42085 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 You mean emby android app vs chrome browser?
