DGMayor 90 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 So I just kind of noticed this, but as episodes are added of various shows, some are being processed properly ,and some aren't. Example: Today, I added Season 2 episode 2 of the Americans. file name is 02x02 - Cardinal.mkv Metadata name is Cardinal Sort name is 002-0002 - Cardinal Displays in the clients as S2, E2 - Cardinal. Everything is good, right? Later today, I add today's Community - Season 5 Episode 8. Filename is 05x08 - App Development and Condiments.mkv Metadata name is 05x08 - App Development and Condiments Sort Name is 005-0008 - 05x08 - App Development and Condiments Displays as S5, E8 - 05x08 - App Development and Condiments It's not stripping out the Season & Episode from the name, but not every time...it's inconsistent.
DGMayor 90 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Here's an example. Check out the last two episodes of Archer and how the display name has changed and how it's no longer stripping out the ssXee from the name..
DGMayor 90 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Alright so I figured it out - it's failing to pull Metadata on these. I fired up Metabrowser and the episodes like this had no Metadata. Also, I'm getting a handful that are listed as TBA, however I can update them via Metabrowser (which pulls from the same API if I recall...).
DGMayor 90 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 So here's a question... "Local metadata is king. If we see local metadata for an item, we will not go out to the internet. Period. This means as new features are added you may have to manually re-scan, but having predictability is better for everyone involved." If Media Browser server is pulling your Metadata and you have it save locally to the folder, does this mean that once it saves, it will never update it? So in my case, I initially add a show that for whatever reason MB Server pulls incomplete Metadata (say the episode name is TBA) and writes that to the XML, it will never update it? Even if I hit refresh Metadata, nothing happens. For the shows with the incorrect naming due to no metadata, why is MB Server failing to find Metadata when MediaBrowser pulls it just fine? Here's a log snippet for last night's Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It currently has no Metadata. 2014-03-12 08:55:13.3976 Debug - HttpServer: HTTP POST http://dgmayor.dnsalias.com:8096/mediabrowser/Items/37dc32daced726f7caef0e4f1a935e68/Refresh?forced=true&recursive=true 2014-03-12 08:55:13.4132 Debug - App: Running TvdbEpisodeProvider for \\Doctor\j\TV\Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D\Season 01\01x15 - Yes Men.mkv 2014-03-12 08:55:13.4132 Debug - App: TvdbEpisodeProvider returned no metadata for \\Doctor\j\TV\Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D\Season 01\01x15 - Yes Men.mkv 2014-03-12 08:55:13.4132 Debug - App: Running EpisodeXmlProvider for \\Doctor\j\TV\Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D\Season 01\01x15 - Yes Men.mkv 2014-03-12 08:55:13.4132 Debug - App: EpisodeXmlProvider returned no metadata for \\Doctor\j\TV\Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D\Season 01\01x15 - Yes Men.mkv 2014-03-12 08:55:13.4132 Debug - App: Running FFProbeProvider for \\Doctor\j\TV\Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D\Season 01\01x15 - Yes Men.mkv 2014-03-12 08:55:13.4132 Debug - App: Saving \\Doctor\j\TV\Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D\Season 01\01x15 - Yes Men.mkv to database. http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&seriesid=263365&seasonid=503426&id=4795998&lid=7 It's certainly has metadata, along with the next couple episodes, so why isn't it being pulled? I'm getting maybe half my episodes with Metadata, and half without. MB Server is the only thing pulling Metadata. I only turned on Metabrowser last night to verify that it wasn't an API issue with Thetvdb. It's currently not running and prior to last night, hadn't been for almost 3 weeks.
WWWestern 94 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Later today, I add today's Community - Season 5 Episode 8. Filename is 05x08 - App Development and Condiments.mkv Probably is problematic leading zero in 05x08
DGMayor 90 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Probably is problematic leading zero in 05x08 It supports the leading zero when there is a multi-episode, why wouldn't it in a single? Episode file naming (Multi-episode supported) Some of the supported naming conventions for episode files are: 01x02x03 episode name.avi S01x02x03 episode name.avi S01E02E03 episode name.avi S01xE02xE03 episode name.avi S01E02-E03 episode name.avi S01E02-X03 episode name.avi 01x02 01x03 episode name.avi 01x02 - 01x03 episode name.avi 01x02 - x03 episode name.avi S01x02.S01x03 episode name.avi S01x02 - S01x03 episode name.avi show name 01x02x03 episode name.avi show name S01x02x03 episode name.avi show name S01E02E03 episode name.avi show name S01xE02xE03 episode name.avi show name S01E02-E03 episode name.avi show name S01E02-X03 episode name.avi show name 01x02 01x03 episode name.avi show name 01x02 - 01x03 episode name.avi show name 01x02 - x03 episode name.avi show name S01x02.S01x03 episode name.avi show name S01x02 - S01x03 episode name.avi 01 episode name.avi Also, the latest Colbert Report is 10x76 - Ronan Farrow and it couldn't read that either.. DGMayor 90 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 we probably weren't able to pull the episode number or season number from the file. if that's the case then no amount of refreshing on the edit page is going to make a difference. fix those values first, then refresh. Every episode is named SSxEE - episode name. As I said it's inconsistent. Of 3 shows added in the past 24 hours 1 was fine, the other two couldn't pull data. I just renamed the Marvel episode above to S01XE15 and it still couldn't find it.
DGMayor 90 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 That is not a supported convention. It would need to be S01E15. Is 01x01 is not a supported convention? If not, I guess I'll just go back to Metabrowser as I'm not renaming 11545 episodes.
DGMayor 90 Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 That is not a supported convention. It would need to be S01E15. S01E15 failed as well.

Latchmor 584 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Mmm, strange I just did a quick test using 2 of the conventions you mention and it has worked instantly
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 S01E15 failed as well. Did you verify that these episodes actually have information on the metadata provider sites? Should check and make sure it exists on thetvdb.com. You might need to add it there if it hasn't been added yet. I've had to add a couple of lesser known series in the past couple of weeks. If a current series doesn't have a lot of followers, it can get behind as well.
Latchmor 584 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Did you verify that these episodes actually have information on the metadata provider sites? ... They do, see my post above yours Cheers
ebr 16174 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I just renamed the Marvel episode above to S01XE15 and it still couldn't find it. That is not a supported convention. It would need to be S01E15.
DGMayor 90 Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Mmm, strange I just did a quick test using 2 of the conventions you mention and it has worked instantly Now you see why I'm so confused/frustrated. It just doesn't make any sense.
DGMayor 90 Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Two shows last night, both found metadata just fine...sort of. Modern Family is listing as TBA, which as you can see - http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&seriesid=95011&seasonid=524637&id=4808013&lid=7 it has information. I'm really really stumped.
Luis 41 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I think the issue is the way the server fetch the info. Because it don't pull the data from thetvdv each time it process a file. It uses a cached data inside the appdata folder. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
DGMayor 90 Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Since the update to Version 3.0.5188.21314, I'm so far 3 for 3 in Metadata pulling in.. Not sure if anything was changed in the update, but so far so good.
DGMayor 90 Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Alright I'm going to say either updating fixed it on my end, or there was some updated code to fix it in the latest server version, because I'm a good 10 episodes in now and every one of them has pulled metadata just fine.
